There never was cruise control on Japanese 180SX's and Silvia's. The only way I can think of to use the cruise control would be to take the throttle pulley off the KA throttle body and put it on the SR throttle body. Then you would have to figure out the throttle cables for both the accelerator pedal and the cruise control because you need to make a custom mount most likely.

cruise on an SR is a PITA. I know it can be done, but I have yet to successfully get it to work. Of course, the only cars I've had the opportunity to mess with were auto converts too, which only further complicates the problem.

The easiest way to get the cruise hookup is to swap throttle bodies. They're the same diameter, and the only thing you need to worry about is rotating the coolant fittings.

Ive pulled out the spindle on my KA throttle body, and I was going to swap it with the SRs, Ive heard there is somthing to do with the ECU needs to be changed but im mostly in the dark.

no mine works fine guys...i have a S14 and i used the S14 throttle body. I just wired back into the F3 plug seems how mine is a S13 SR20 in a S14. Works like factory. As far as the S13 i think it would work just about the same way in fact.. As far as mine goes...the Factory cruise does not run throught he ECU at all, its on the body harness...(period).

i swapped my ka throttle body onto the sr20 engine. then i just bypassed the coolant from running through the throttle body with a short piece of pipe. for a mount for the throttle and cruice cable i used the ka bracket. you can bore out the counting holes and trim the back edges to rotate it perfectly into place. a dremel works great here. now for the wiring. i have a s13 sr into a sohc s13. what i had to do was jump the speed signal from the wiring going into the ecu to the wiring for the cruise control unit. luckily, the cruice control module sits right behind the ecu in the passenger floorboard. so all you need is a 6 inch peice of wire and some connectors. remember, you want to get the speed signal from the ecu to the cruise module but not cut it off from the ecu. get some three way connectors.

So your Ka was a sohc and you were able to use it on the sr?

My cruise works fine on mine too. I hear it was a pain to get it working and my mechanic (excellent guy) said he would never do it again. It works just like the factory engine did before the swap!
