i see that his maf is in line with the cold pipe. does it run ok like that or does it have to be before the turbo???

The MAF setup is called blow-through. It works same as it was pre-turbo. And yes, i was cursing... :D Hehehe.

G2 gold caliper paint. It's a 2-part paint you can get on ebay that you paint on with a brush. The coats are thick and look pretty protective.
krisdeezy wrote:oh i remember you..you were at the 240 meet in arcadia and kept reving it ...anyways nice car very clean..
When was this? I don't remember free-reving it at idle in the parking lot, not the greatest thing for your engine anyways...I did however take a few buddies for a ride on the STREET right off the parking lot if that's what you're talking about
white90esex wrote:Hey, I just realized you had the maf after the turbo. Ive never really read/herd much about these kinds a setups. Do you have to do anything special to make it work out like that or does it work fine? Also is it ok to have those mafs take on pressure?

just curious
The blow-through mafs setup as it's called just worked for me because I wanted to have an open atmospheric bov with my tuned ecu. I did the suck-through setup but it stalled on me a few times because the bov was in-line between the mafs and the throttle body releasing metered air into the atmosphere. With my current setup, the bov is BEFORE the mafs so the expelled air isn't metered, just fresh pressurized air from the turbo.

I know duralast aren't the tyte race-spec pads but this is my DD and frankly they will do just fine. They can always be switched out later anyways..

just some regular old dupicolor-I didn't get any wheel coating paint since I've had pretty good luck with regular old rattle can paint on wheels before. Also, it is a bit harder to find weird and cool color choices in the wheel coating (selection is usually limited to "black" "silver" and "bronze", a little boring IMO)

the color is actually called "arizona beige" believe it or not, bronze was a little too played out and dark for my taste.

The more I look at this setup the more I'm leaning towards turboing my KA!

you should take out that fan and its shroud and replace with an electric fan!!zirgo FTMFW! plus doing so will give power back to the crank seeing as the fan is attached there so e-fan=more hp&tq also =FTMFWand it will free up room and clean up that engine bayjust my 2 cents

i dont wanna bite your style, but i like that color for the same reason, would it bother you if i painted my teardrops that color?

also, since its just regular duplicolor spraypaint, is that sold at auto stores, or is that more of a walmart thing?

also, did sand your wheels and everything before? and did you clear afterwards? thanks in advance

O yeah d!ck forgot about that pic, the green one is on one of them too. That red one is running and semi-driveable but needs interior and exterior as you can see. That little car is a blast to drive though with the top down

sketchy, I don't mind at all bro. Just make sure you paint my name on your wheels haha j/k no worries..I work at pep boys so I just got some there with a little employee discount they are like 5 bucks a can.

I sanded the old clearcoat off, removed balancing weights AFTER marking their previous positions on the tire with a white crayon so you don't need to re-balance, then shot them with new paint. I didn't clear coat them because I didn't want them glossy, although I hear you can get satin clear coat to protect them. And about 2 cans will be about the perfect amount for 4 wheels with about 2-3 coats.

yep, and doing 75 on the freeway with the top down feels like you're flying a p51 mustang lol. Loud, bumpy and all the instruments are old and mechanical. Even the manual choke has to be dialed in just right by pulling a small rod above the center console. My dad wants to swap one of his 18rg's or maybe even a ka24de in the red one.. I'll ask him for some pics and I'll post a few later.

not really the same, but my grandad had a spitfire he used to tool around in with me in the passenger seat. even for a little kid, the car seemed dangerously small and loud. do you get to drive them?

yeah once in a while, he's been fixing them lately so they weren't driveable for a while but he keeps the miles of them both are just about totally original...except for the weber carbs he installed on the red one lol, it's a little ratty and doesn't have the desireable overdrive option like the green one so he's always considering modding that one but keeping the green one stock. I'd love to see the red one with a 200 hp 18rg lowered on some wide wire wheels.

hey that is a nice clean setup.

Quick question the slots on your rotors.. is that the right direction cause i have mine going the other way? I dont realy know if there is a correct way or if it maters.

If you or someone can clear this up for that would be great.

Thanx for all the comments so far really appreciate it

I'm pretty sure the way I have mine are correct to "fling" the gasses, dust and potential rain water from the pads outward. In your case, it would be an easy fix if they are in the wrong direction: Just swap the rotors from left to right and vice-versa! Heres a pic of slotted rotors on a stang: my aim is mach3gtsr if you guys have any ques, or w/e...or e-mail me if i'm not on-your choice

installed a s13 vlsd today and replaced some worn out tie-rod ends with some nice MOOG's (drifting about finished them off). Tie rod ends were 60-something shipped from rockauto.com, very good deal! I know you guys want some pics and I'll try and get some, been too busy lately..

Your car looks really good, congrats.

Quick question: Why is there two different bumber types on koukis? SE v. LE v. Base, 97 v. 98 or what/why?

I have heard many different opinions on which way the slots on the rotors are supposed to go. One is the way on the mustang to allow the gas to vent from under the pads and then the other way scrapes the pad clean so it runs along the rotor from front to back. but the direction of the rotor depends all on the cooling fins in the middle of the rotor if they are strait up and down then you can put them on in any direction you would like. The direction of the slots have been a huge debate on many forums. I have mine going in towards the rotor as they spin so far so good.<front
