Except, it wasn't called Nissan North America.Speeddoctor wrote:Answers#1&2: Some of you were warm when you said 1958, because that is when Nissan-Japan began importing cars and trucks to the USA (the 1000 series). They used "distributors" like Luby(East) and Woolverton (West) to sell small quantities of Datsuns...often alongside Crosleys and Goggomobils.
But they didn't locate an office until 1960. In fact, the articles of incorporation were signed September 28, 1960.
Intitially there wasn't a national site. Mr. Kawazoe had the East (N.Y.) and Mr. K. had the West. Mr. K started in the seventh floor of the Mobil office building in downtown L.A., but quickly said, "I can't sell cars from the 7th floor". He then moved to 137 East Alondra Blvd. in Gardena, Ca. which later became USA Headquarters until 1972.
So, the correct answer as you see is somewhat murky...so anyone who said anything in greater L.A. is right. Kansas...not so much. BTW N.Y. was the original plan.....always good to be near the Market! S.D. stay tuned for answer #3!

It seems the quiz is to read between the lines to read the real questionsSpeeddoctor wrote:Audtatious-the tenacious...thats right...The articles of incorporation refered to the new entity as Nissan Motor Company - U.S.A. a.k.a. NMC-U.S.A.
I was way behind the ball on this. Half the stuff I dropped in my reply was stated way before me.Speeddoctor wrote:Wow! a reverend with a distinct edge.......nice job of reading a book!
1) True. Here's a clue for some of you... think of the following initials: O.S.G.2) I actually think it's from Roman mythology... 3) Japan. Remember, the V35 was released there almost 2 full years before it arrived here.Ace2cool wrote:1. I'm gonna guess false, but I don't know schite about the L series engines2. Silvia is a Greek demigoddess of the forest, and the chassis designation was S?3. I'm gonna guess California, since the Infiniti name isn't used in Japan.
