Does the SR motor have a 118mph cut of like the KA? If so does any one know which wire you have to snip to rid of this? Thanks

no its at 112.. and you cant snip a wire... you have to have the ecu re-tuned

it's too bad it's where it is... these cars can go so much faster, even when stock

ive seen the 180mph speedometers that one company makes. By installing one of these would that make any diff on speed limiter?

i still have the rev limiter, i also accidently cut the furthest back sensor on the transmission (not to speed sender) while doing my first swap. i havent noticed anything, other than my fuel map sucks, but maybe they all do (big jump at 3500 and 5000)

No. All they've done is shaved a km/h speedo of the "km/h" badging, added a resistor and done a LITTLE work to the speedo unit itself. Nothing for the speed limiter. Sorry.

Hey!BlackS13 says 240SX is gear limited to about 170. Mine hits speed limiter of 112 at around 4000 rpm. How can 2500 rpm translate into 58 mph increase in speed. Was it just a misprint?

Different car but same holds true. My friend has a VW. He had a chip installed which raised the rev limiter from 7000 to 8000rpm (crazy!!). By means of an MSD we turned it down to 7200rpm. He gained 15mph in each gear. Were talkin' 45 in 1st , 75 in 2nd , 105 in third!! Never tried fourth too scary. That is only a 200rpm gain. I'm thinking max speed on 240 about 155 - 165mph w/ a KA. SR's have different gearing so maybe even higher top speed.

sorry i meant 163.3 mph, not 170, assuming a 7000 rpm redline. thats gearing, not whats its actually capable of.

black S13, sorry man gotta call BS. I have an auto S13 and I have a couple friends with auto 240's. All of our cars top out at 125mph. So how are you pulling those speeds with auto ECU's? Also, the auto ecu isn't that different from the man ecu. The final drive in the auto is what counts for the high top speed.

the ka is capable of going ALOT faster than 125mph.

and i dont think rev limiter is at 112.

my speedometer goes waaaaaaay past the 110 mark before i even hit speed limiter. it almost hits my tripmeter/odometer.

then you speed limiter is dead, just like mine.

i have a manual transmission with auto ecu. therefore, i have the gearing to do 163.3 and no electrical limit to stop me. it obviously wont do that, but the electronics wouldnt would never kick in to kill it.

its very simple math.

in 5th, 70mph is almost exactly 3000 rpm. so...

70mph/3000rpm= 0.02333 mph/rpm.0.02333mph/rpmx7000rpm= 163.333mph.

Today coming from work I hit speed limiter, just to make sure it's still there. It stoped my acceleration at around 115 mph. Tach readings were above 5000 rpm!!! My redline is 6650 (it's KA24DE in a 95 240SX), I still don't get how your top speed?redline is so high is so high. Here is a link to a top speed calculator. I just dont have all the data needed make a calculation.

http://www.juric.org/mopar/tools/topspeed.php

Someone with some time and more impotrant knowledge can easily do that.

according to that calculator, in 5th gear with a stock car (excluding tire size) the max speed is 165.4431513747837. Aerodynamically impossible as it is! I wouldn't want to go anywhere near that fast in a stock car anyway.

Wish I bought and ecu to get rid of my speed limiter go take a picture of it right now. I've taken mine up to 140mph before. Does everyone elses speed limiter kick in right away or does it delay SOMETIMES liek mine does. Next to my friend in his civic that's how i know how fast I was going. any I still had some rpms to go. Beleive I was just at 6k when it cut me off. Anyone got the game Gran Turismo 3. I took the stock 240sx on the test track and it topped out between 155-165 If i remember correctly think it was 155 on straights and 163 in the curve. Yes it is a game but it does match up to what is being said.

why would you need to install 180 mph speedometer in 240sx anyway. try good designs on tubocharged NSX. :) but it's your money.

by simple calculations of black s13:

73 mph---------3000rpmXX mph---------6800rpm

cross multiply and divide to 3000rpm

so, (73 x 6800rpm) / 3000rpm = 165.47 mph

very precise calculation and it is true for my 92 240sx se. I have found that number just by adding miles to 73mph, the difference in miles/hr between every thousand rpm while driving.

92 240sx se travels 73mph at 3000 rpm(5th gear), every 1k rpm increase in 5th gear is I believe 24 mph increase.

--------------------------------------------I just never get bored with this car.

exactly, very simple math, its all linear (assuming one gear)
