I had my entire midsection bitten by fire ants at JRTC in 2000 during rehearsals. Went prone in a pile of them with a SAW but didn't see them until my gut and groin were on fire. There's a reason they're called "fire ants". We weren't even in the damned box yet.

I did not eat them however.
