Ok, I guess you want to talk about VCRs.

Which do you prefer, DVD or VCR?

I kind of prefer VHS tapes because they are way more durable then DVDs. I mean, if you drop a DVD it'll get scratched or broken very easily. Whereas with a tape you can drop it and it might damage the cartrige, but not always, and the actual tape media will still be fine.

Even though people say there is a big difference in picture quality, there really isn't. A VCR set up properly with the right connections can match a DVD player any day. Note that DVDs are NOT high definition.

Now, where there is a difference is in sound. DVDs have the capability of surround sound audio tracks, whereas only the most expensive VCRs had that capability.

Other then that...

and they tend to deteriorate over time.

dvd is superior.

no more "please be kind, rewind" stickers.

Man, when you have children around or an irresponsible stepbrother DVDs are crap. Otherwise, they rock.

Nothing more reliable than a DivX file, though! I <3 my hard drive.

I've seen some pretty amazing output from S-VHS 4-head VCRs though. With the right cables, a clean tape, and a good TV, the picture can be quite remarkable.

I always hated how back in the day I'd get my S-video and Mac serial cables mixed up. Why the hell must they look so damn similar! Even worse, my 33MHz Mac had an S-video input port for video captures, adding to the confusion.

Now that I think of it, that old computer could do a s*** of stuff.

He was banned for a while before you came back... The violation meant that he was making it terrible, so it was exactly as stated!!

I know, I've been too good. I think we should steer this towards politics

So when are we getting out of Iraq? Wow is the next to "have WMDs"?

Nope, but you're going to have to get in line behind the other 100 people that have said that already.

wow awsome... you should add that to the begining of this post and keep a runnign index

as for cassets and Video tapes...way better then cds...I mean yeah the quality of the tape always went to hell but you will have that forever...case in point say you did drop that casset and it broke...grabe the tape and reels and brake open another casset, replace internals, tape shut all better! try that with a cd...

although I have to agree with the divx

Yep, it's much easier to repair a tape when the casing breaks.

Actually, DVDs arn't really harmed if you scratch the clear part. You can use one of the "DVD Repair" gizmos to fill it back in. Now, if you scratch the top of it, with the label, then you're screwed because that is the recorded part.

Damn bro, so harsh. We have had some very good discussions on "other" models not covered as well as other makes. Sometimes though it's really just the equivalent of watching "Beavis and Butthead". No point, but good for laughing out loud.

I do remember a certain someone calling me down here to help this girl with a ford ranger...lol

As a matter of fact thats how I found out about this forum.

What I find funny was a thread in here I had posted in, you were involved with and it was titled"would anyone notice p0rn was posted in here" I stumbled across it a week or 2 ago and found the posts in it were completely out of order and some of the posts were flat out missing from it. So now as you read through it , It makes absolutly no sence...kinda like PMQ
