I have a redtop in my 95. I have the ngk bkr7eix plugs gapped at .030in. When I pulled them to check them out today, the plug out of cylindar #1 was gapped to like .060in, and the rest were still good at .030in. How in the world does this happen? It's just really wierd, but maybe that's what caused the hesitation in boost the other night. Anyways, I regapped it, and it runs fine.

Another question, when I put my plugs in, I broke the very tip of the electrode off on 1 of them. Those iridium plugs have really then electrodes, but it was just the very tip. Would that hurt something, or is it fine to run them like that? Maybe I should just buy a whole new set huh? And is the .030in. gap fine for running 10psi daily?

You really do not want to run plugs with a broken electrode. Also where did the broken piece fall into? Hopefully not your cylinder.

yeah gap of .030 should be fine. I believe that's how they are gapped when they come out of the box.

no, luckily it didn't fall in the cylinder. I've had them running for a few months now, and the car runs okay....but not perfect. I had to gap them, they came out of the box at .044, but I thought that was way too high. It's just the very tip, there's still an electrode, but not the long needle tip. Don't think it's safe to be running them like that then?

Anyone know what in the world would cause the spark plug gap to open up that far? Who knows how long I had it running like that. And which way is it: the more hp you run, the wider the spark plug gap you'll want, or vise versa? Thanks.

High boost + large plug gap = spark blow out, high gap is good on NA because you get good burn, but with higher boost levels the spark will get blown out at higher RPM, I ran my Iridiums at .040 when I was running stock boost, but as soon as I turned the boost up it would miss badly whenever I hit full boost. I gapped them to .030 and its great, they tend to foul when im stuck in traffic, but they clean up if I goose it once or twice. If you broke the tip off the electrode, I would replace the plug right away, NGK designs the plugs a certain way, if you brake them I would bet they are no longer doing the job as well as they should.
