Southern people are fat because we have food worth eating.

Nismo that depends on what part of the NY you're in. L.I. accents are pretty annoying sometimes and thats probably what you were refering to. I hardly ever hear NY said the way you out it though.

I cant stand spanish accents personally, but if thats what does it for you...you can have em'! :D A SLIGHT southern accent can be great though, but mostly I just want a girl to have good grammar and sound cultured and educated.

I eat food worth eating too, my family is known for some mean gumbo... my mom can dish up an incredible roast and mashed potatoes... I'll make kickin' cat-head biscuits, etc. I've been in GA as long as I can remember.

I'm 6'3, 170lbs, and I eat a lot. Being fat and being from the south are two different things. I'm talking about the people who have no control over their eating habits, it seems to go along with the people too lazy to learn how to speak correctly.

edit: It's called excersize. I promise, if one were to go swim 2000+ yards a day for 3 months in the cold of winter at 6-7am, one'll lose so much fat weight it's not even funny. I have friends ask me how to get in better shape, I swear by swimming up and down.

Speaking of eating, I'm just a tad under 6 feet, and only way 125lbs. (I'm not skinny, I'm aerodynamic) And I eat a LOT. :) And here's another thing: I don't excersize that much at all. I run a mile every day, and lift a few weights. The real reason why I've never been fat because I have one helluva metabolism. I love it! And my friends hate me for it...

i live in a countryfolk / hick / countrywestern / white trash area of southern california.

and I absolutely cannot stand listening to any of them speak. nothing reminds me of white trash faster than some hick voice. not saying that everybody from the southern states with a southern accent is a white trash hick. i'm saying that out here, you talk like that, you're white trash.

Lifting weights builds metabolism. My brother has a natural high metabolism too, some people are lucky. I've had to make mine fast through the excersize... all the same, you do something, most people do nothing at all.

The girl I met with the southern accent had such a smoking body, a very light southern accent, spoke correctly with some of that southerness, and did I mention a smoking body? The whole package just worked and turned me on. :D I guess I've never met a girl who was fat with a very thick accent, so I guess my opinion is biased a little. But I want to find another one like that Southern Bell I found.

Not all Southern accents are bad guys. I'm in TN and have lived here my whole life but I don't have that hated twangy Southern drawl. I speak properly because that is how I was taught and I'm in business and most people don't understand the twang. But yes, most Southern accents make me want to scream. There are some that I absolutely love though. Mississippi and Louisiana accents...mmm. Best of all though is you northern guys. Those accents make me want to do good (bad) things.

It is cute if it is not too over the top. I lived in NC for a while, and when I was there most people said that I had a flat accent (DC Metro area). When I left NC, i came to appreciate the accents there a lot more for their "charm." I can now turn a southern accent (Sandhills of NC) on and off at will. Comes in handy...

A slight southern accent may be charming, but a southern 'twang' can bring all the connotations of stupidity in the world. Generally speaking, i think any kind of accent that is so strong that you can't understand a damn word they're saying isn't attractive at all.

I moved to Mississippi from Indiana about 8 years ago. I fought as hard as I possibly could to keep from speaking southern. Slowly the Y'alls and fixin to's crept in. (very rarely I say "fixin to") I still hate using those words, but after 8 years I really cant help it sometimes. It is nice however that I can go back to my yankee speaking if I need to.

Probably the people that I find the most annoying down here use the word "like" repeatedly. I had a girlfriend in high school who did this...

"I was all like oh my god, then she was all like oh crap, and then everyone was all like lets go." (not even sure if I punctuated that right? LOL)

Oh yeah, my current girlfriend is from Germany and here for school. She has got a very sexy accent. Harsh german accented english mixed with some southern. Odd but sexy. :D:D:D IMO

i like slight southern accent on girls, SLIGHT!! anything more sounds hickish/dumb/whitetrashy. one of my best friends is from GA and hers is cute. i make fun of her all the time. she says i sound wayyyy northern tho. northern to me is like canada eh, and i dont speak like that. i dont think people from toledo ohio sound northern or have any accent at all, so maybe its just me personally.

IMO any accent if it is really light is cool, thick accents of any type are a pain in the arse and get annoying. I have lived all over this great country and can deal with any accent. A light accent denotes one's history by showing overtones of their regional accent during conversation, thus making it easier to find more to talk about if you choose to do so. think of it as an easy way to have a reason to talk to someone... "ooh.. areyou from yugoslavia? you seem to have a slight slavic/gutteral accent to your words. and it SOOO turns me onn!!" or something like that :)

My thoughts exactly, Zero.

Having lived here for nearly 17 years, "y'all" has crept into my vocabulary oh so slightly... I only use it in rare circumstances when I'm feeling really lazy and thus don't want to go to the trouble of saying "you guys."

The "like" thing bugs me too... but I find myself using the word "like" in that way from time to time too, usually in spurts, and it bugs me.

Rousie, come on down to tha dirty souf and we'll show you the whole (bad) package of southern... it hurts...

[ramble] This is why you date models who grew up north of here... I think she's originally from DC... and are half italian... yet tall... go figure :D... but she drives a Focus... OUCH! at least it's stock... [/ramble]

You know you're from the North Shore, Boston area when you can decipher this:

Tevesa doan have any bvains, she's from Veveah ahn you know how people from that areahr have wicket funny accents. Crazy people those Veveah chums, I seen 'em pahk thera cahs on the left hand soyid of the road in the moahnins, isn't that against the lawrr? Oh wait, I gotta go to the bothroom! :D

I personally love how Northeastern girls say coffee and popcorn, either "cahhfee" and "pup con" (Boston) or "cawfee" and "pawp cown" (L.I., Nooyawk).

Right after posting that I liked a slight southern accent yesterday, I went to Wendy's...where I saw a trailer park family with horrid accents. It kind of ruined it for me, but once their buck teeth, fat asses, and ugly kids are wiped from my memory...I will be fine again. Slight accents good, strong accents bad :)

Well there isnt much of an accent where I live, but I despise a L.I. accent if its too noticeable.

I'm a sucker for a girl with a subtle southern accent. English accents too. Liz Hurley has a wonderful accent, for example. Of course it doesn't hurt that she's also a hottie.
