I don't know how it is in Seattle or in Arizona but I know that here in California, THE MAN can really give you a hard time. First of all, just smogging the thing requires some luck. I know it's more lenient in alot of other states.

Even having the gtr head/tail lights can get you in trouble if THE MAN wants to stick it to ya. He will look for the DOT stamp on it and if it doesn't = fix-it-ticket (which now cost money).

I know for CA, keeping a low profile is the best way to go. But there are quite a few people here who flashes their cars and still get away with it. Luck!

Regarding WA state emissions, I'm basically ASE AES certified for OBD1 and 2. Here's some basic info for those here in WA.

A GTR of any year will never pass. No way no how unless DOT, EPA, and Ecology approval. There is massive amounts involved in this as we all know..

A JDM Silvia of 96 or newer CAN pass. Being RHD, they will check for VIN numbers, so there better be some on there from a USDM vehicle. There is no tail pipe check for OBD2 96+ vehicles. Basically they check the MIL/CEL with KOEO (light comes on and goes off), and KOER (same light procedure with engine running).. if it passes those, there is no further testing. They will check your gas cap however, and it must be OEM.

Any vehicle before 96 will receive harder testing, I can go over that if someone needs the info. Gotta run right now...
