Maybe some polyester pillow or mattress filling from Wal-mart.
But...I do have a large roll of sound deadening stuff in my garage, I might use that instead though, dunno yet haha.

its not going to be that quiet despite what you do.... i removed all the sound deadening and replaced it with fat mat, it absorbs alot of noise but you can still hear road noise.

honestly if you don't want to hear the noise, buy a different car. i really don't notice it that much....

I got an exhaust system that is 3" all the way, and probably will be forever, so a quiet car is out the window.

Road noise doesn't really annoy me, infact I like to keep my windows down, it's mostly the creaking of the chassis as I go up driveways at an angle that annoys me, but that's not a soundproofing issue.

time to get the c-pillar bar, like me! and or roll cage. :mike
the c-pillar bar got rid of the craking alot for me. i know what you mean too. it was anoyying and felt like my rear window would pop out the molding or shatter. kinda scary. but the bar definitely helped my alot. remember to jack up the rear when installing. as to make the bar "tight" and no slack or play in it.

Nah, I don't want a bar there, but definitely helps to know that it got rid of the creaking!
I'll figure something out. :)

End thread jack. :couch

so why did you remove the factory sound deadening? Thought you were gonna save mad weitz? I'm just saying, high-end luxury cars have the formula down for making it quiet, why can't the 240 be molded to fit? Its not that many variables really.

You can make a car as quiet as you want, just takes time, money, and quite a bit of elbow grease...

Mostly money though. But I am interested in this idea though. If OP ever gets to finishing this project then he should make a video or something while he's driving around.

Yeah it is going to be a moderate investment, probably around the same price to get the VH in. I have been thinking of ways to compare a before and after. I am thinking perhaps a camera with external mic would help show the difference versus an internal mic.

A lot of people report good results using "Great Stuff" to fill voids. Unlike the cottonballs or polyfill (the pillow stuff) its a bit more permanent. Its also much more fire-resistant and does a good job on insulating the car. Its also messy, and will not come out if you get it on your clothes or upholstery. I plan on eventually using it alongside some sound dampening mats. (Probably damplifier pro, but we'll see when the time comes.)
