My stock sr alternator just went out and i was thinking about ordering a high out alternator as a upgrade..I have a oddesy 680 battery, three autometer gauge's,Turbo timer,Profec B,Glow gauge's,And a cd player..So i was thinking my car could use the extra power,Plus i run a UR crank pulley,That is slowing down the alternator alittle bit at idle..Sould i do it or just stick with stock amps,And will running a higher amp alternator have any bad affects on my engine at all..

80AMP Vs. 180AMP ???

Both are 12V and made for a 91-94 240sx..

Who makes a high output alternator for the SR? You just getting a custom one? Anyway, no it will not hurt your car. Having 100 extra amps available will be of a benefit.

There's a writeup somewhere on here for using a 110 amp alt. from a '97 Nissan Quest. The results looked impressive and it didn't appear too difficult to get it on there. I don't know of any company that makes a higher output alt. for an sr. I suppose you could have a shop rebuild yours so that it would put out 180 amps but I've heard that can seriously shorten its lifespan.

just buy the 110 or 90 amp alts and modify them to fit. I plan to get the 90 amp S14 alt when my SR alt goes out since its 10 amps higher but easy to install.

Like hpmachine said, getting the alt rewound to up its output will shorten its life.

This is the write-up for that. He says that the alt would not work with his friend's redtop, but later says it can w/mods, then it doesn't. Read through to determine answer and maybe contact him.

They are made for the 240sx ka engine but i read that the ka alternator and sr are the same..Im going to buy one then,I just wanted to check with you guys before.

What company is this? Could you post info? If they are designed that way and not merely just re-winds, then you should be fine w/reliability, but not always.

Is the S14 KA alt really 90amps? I thought it was 80 like the S13.

s14 is 90 amps.

The company that makes these alternators is called "Iraggi-Alternator".And i did some research on a few car and truck fourms and people love these alternators..And have no problems what so ever with them..I read on one fourm that this guy as had one in his pickup for something like 6 years with no problems at all..

I think im going to go with the 180amp 89-90 240sx Iraggi Alternator..It has 100amps at idle over the 91-94 which has 90amps at idle..A 89-90 240sx alternator will work on a s13 sr20 if you drillout the threads and change the pulley right?

zerothread?id=113812http://forums.nicoc ... 131961Both of these (and if you google it too) say the DE is the one to use. How much do they cost, can you link the website?

Yes, just make sure that you order a DE alternator from any 91+ 240sx.

that would be a nice thing for anybody looking to run an amp with all of this other stuff. frying alt's from too much power consumption sucks.

Definitely review install, fitment, voltage, initial thoughts on quality, I would love to get a high amp alt and that's not a bad price to pay. You'll still have to modify it though won't you?
