Ok guys here's the scoop. I finally have to sell my J. I didn't want to, but I just can't afford college and both of my cars. Instead of investing tons of money into twin turboing and most likely destorying a wonderful car, I went and pulled the trigger on a 2004 SRT-4 about 2 months ago and I really love it (I hope I don't get flammed). It's my little econo-sports car / weekned racer. Well I planned on keeping my J30 as my cruise car and drove it to work mostly. Unfortuneatly, college bills and car payments have caught up with me and I can't keep both, so I have to sell it. Here's the link I posted in the B/S/T. I really want NICO member to pick it up so I know she'll be in good hands.

Anyways, you G35 and M45 guys in the Chicagoland Area be careful. There might not be a fast J30 flying around, but there definately is an even faster little neon on the prowl! :D

Car payments and college don't go together. Were you financing the J30 also?

Hope it finds a home here.

Don't do it. Sell the the stupid Neon. The J is a class act. The Neon? McCar.

Yeah, but he is upside down in the Neon unless he put 25% down, which is lost on resale.

Upside down in the Neon, he is dead. Upside down in the J and he walks away.

The J is a real car. Like making love. Beautiful.

The Neon? Slapping the salmon. Pulling your pudd. Spanking the monkey. Choking the gopher.

I would lose a tons if I were to trade the neon back in. I really like the neon though. I wanted something more sporty, but a G35 was just too far out of my price range. Plus, the new SE-Rs just don't look like they used to. In fact, I think the 04s just fit in with the maxima and altima instead of before where it used to really stick out of the crowd. If I were to go with the Nismo options, I would be in the 350Z price range, so I just bought the fastest car for the money. Again, I'm really happy with the car, but I just can't have the best of both worlds...

To build a J30 for speed became a somewhat lost cause. I just felt like I was just destroying the car and taking on a HUGE project that would most likely end up in a horrible failure. Unless you are great at fabricating and building motors (which I am not) twin-turboing a J just isn't practical.

Unless I find a great source of cash flow, I'm just going to have to sell it. :(

I rode in a neon R/T a few days ago, and its not bad..

... But its still just a neon... It may do great 1/4 mile and 0-60, but its not a highway cruiser and certainly not classy..

In about 5 years its just gonna be another POS dodge.. The J is still a class act, after 10+ years.....

You wont see a stock neon going for $6000 in 10 years... Thats about 1/3 of what it cost now!

Oh well, enjoy your J while you still have it, and enjoy being with the other 12million ricers!

Not hating, but just questioning your decision..... What can you expect from NISSAN/INFINITI OWNERS...

It truely is a loss for me. The car was a hand-me-down and trust me, that name does it no justice. I was more than happy to recieve. Being an automotive enthusiast, I also wanted a sports car. Only problemo, I'm stuck in a 5 year loan on a sport compact. If I don't find some kind of sweet job in the next month or so, I will have no choice but to sell the J. I really don't want to, but If it comes down to it, It has to go or I will lose both cars. Then I won't have a way to get to class. Rather than wait till the last minute, I'm going to see if there is a buyer out there. If I wait till the last minute and miss a payment.... Bye Bye credit.

Thing is, at speed the J is in its element. The Neon is a skitish tresspasser.

The J is a real car.

All true. Ever check the resale value of 9 year old Neon? Are there any running?

Anyway, the die has been cast, and the best thing to do is to help one fast J30. Maybe you can find a buyer for the Neon and come clean? Surely there has to be a youngster out there who can pay the insurance and wants it today.

What do you want? School and a classy ride with no payments or school and a hand job with a commitment? Why did you get a stupid Neon with 5 years worth of payments while you're in school when you had a J for free? Your karma is running over your dogma. Sorry, man, you lose.

I know you have to do what you have to do but I hope you never sign a 5 year note on a POS again especially when you had one of the world's great engineering examples in your hands for free.

Kids.

So agreed...

At least I spent my money on a Q...

By the time your done paying it off it'll be worth $3000..... The J is still worth more..

The neon will be cool for about 3 more years, then it goes down as just another car... The J30 will never be "just another car", always in a class of its own...

Im sorry we're beating this to death..

Don't take it personally. I am a charter member of the less than judicious club. Enjoy you ride, but try to eliminate your debt, as your are doing. Good luck.

Nice looking J30. Do you have the OEM air box? Some more pictures of the seats and doors and trunk might be nice.

:(

Someone step up and adopt this beautiful car - Let's keep it in the NICO family.

Best wishes with school and the paydown, and when all is said and done, it really IS JUST a car. 20 years from now both cars will be scrap metal, and hopefully someday you'll look back on this all and chuckle.

I guess it's the irony of selling an Infiniti to make payments on a Neon that gets me.

Get that job!

Well I came up with another plan, but I'll need some support. I don't appreciate the verbal assauslt for buying an SRT-4. :angryfire But whatever, it may be a neon, but I'm running 13s in the 1/4, so you can say what you want. I do, however want to bring to NICO a J30 that can kick the crap out of any Lexus or BMW out there. :ylsuper This was my original plan. That's why I bought another car, so I can have a car to drive to work and school while I slowly build up what I feel is one of Infiniti's most beautiful cars. Unfortuneatly, my parents talked me into buying a brand new car and selling the J30. Well I have other plans.

So I need your help. We need to find another member with a J30 in trouble. Sounds strange? Well it is. I am more than willing to sell my motor and transmission to anyone in need. This will give me a boost in cash in my time of need. I'll let the car sit for a couple of months, then goto work. VH41, VG30DETT, RB25DET, cost be damned. I'm almost done with school, and I'm somewhat stuck in a purgatory between working and going to school. But my Pops will hire me for the time being, so I can pay the bills.

Things are looking up, but I need to sell my motor and transmission to jumpstart this project.

Flaming someone for buying a Neon is mandatory. ;)

Put the transmission and engine on Ebay. You're going for a different drive train so you're going to have to get rid it sooner or later anyway. I might buy the transmission from you but the wife would kill me. I'm getting near 140k but have been running Mobil One since 70k and the car is running beautifully. (Knock wood).

That sure is a pretty J you have and you know that you can't reasonably buy build quality like that anymore. I suppose I love the build quality and engineering. A 3.5L would be nice but the J is what it is and is a fast car once the rpm are up.

Can you say RWD?

I'd love to see your project once it gets underway. I'm right here in Elgin if you need a pair of hands.

Good luck.

Or in Japanese, "Luck good".
