I think a VK45DE with the five speed should perk it up just fine. Hell to integrate the OBDII. Are you an electrical engineering major, by chance?

I'm a service tech for big industrial engines, but they are very similar to automotive apps. I mean, an internal combustion engine is an internal combustion engine no matter what it is in. Good thing about being in the industry is that I know quite a few electrical engineers that could give me a hand. And yes, OBDII is a pain.

Speed isn't my ultimate goal. Speed leads to very undriveable cars, which I don't want to ruin the J30's smoothness. Enter the neon... So now that I have a car built for speed I'm going for creativity and uniqueness as my goal. Stuffing a VH would be cool because It would be similar to bringing a Leopard over seas. But, then again, it's been done before. VGTT? Rumors were around that this has been done also. So what then? If the G35 is the United State's first production Skyline, then why not bring a little skyline to the G35's little brother?

I want to do an RB25DET. The RB26 is just way to expensive and you need more fabrication for the twin hairdryers. Being an Inline 6, fabricating the exhaust would be easier, since the J only has an opening on the driver side rear. Mounting the Inline would be a pain, but I think it will fit no problem. I mean, they fit an RB26DETT in a 300ZX.

I have a place in mind to store the car, so hopefully things will get underway soon.

I'll close my thread in the B/S/T and open one for the motor and transmission. I think the transmission will go fast but I am real worried about the motor.

RB are cast iron blocks and heavy. VG30DE motor may take a while to move as they do not break often, and few will spend the money to rehab them (even the minimal amount yours would require) and then install them in a car only worth the cost of installation and acquistion, or even less.

Good luck.

That made me LOL, very funny Brian. It is Brian isn't it, so many of us/so many screen names that I get confused.

Kinda late to the game, but wanted to say congrats on the SRT4 and hope you have luck selling the J30. I think the SRT4 is still an excellent car (even if it IS a neon, or whatever the hell people say...), and you practically can't find better performance for the buck.

Hell, I went down to the dodge dealer when they came out and had a very hard time getting out of that car when it came time to leave.. ;)

The guys were a little rough on you, OneFastJ30. I was in Elgin 2 weeks ago. I should have checked it out. My wife is from Elgin. I've seen some of those Neons on the road and there a nice looking car so don't feel bad. That's a good car for a kid. The only thing that didn't make sence was the fact that you had a car that was paid for, you have no job, and you got a new car. I didn't have my first new car til I was 26. When I was your age, I was driving a POS 86 Cavalier. The only saving grace is that it was stick. I hope, at least you got your Neon stick. Dont sell the engine and transmission of your J. The car is mint. I've never been a big fan of the J ever since I got one as a loaner when I droped off my Q for service, but there's people here that would like the J as is. Try to sell it whole, or get a job to pay for the Neon.
