Drive careful!
Nope, wasnt on the phone. But, the person i hit was a woman.. So i had no chance of "cuteing" my way out of it.

Btw, still no word from the driver. I do think that the damage would be under $1000 and therefore, i'm not obligated to report it to my insurance company. I did explain this to the woman i hit. Like i said many times, i just hit her license plate area. Honestly, i couldnt see any damage to the bumper even. However, she was pointing out tiny scrathes that looked like they were made by a humming bird's toe nail. I highly doubt that that was from my car hitting hers. Sheesh. Well, she cant exactly get any money from me right now because i just went on a shopping spree and i am BROKE! hahaha. Good times.

Oh man, you let him off the hook totally? You are nicer than I would have been in the situation. I mean, I wouldn't totally have tried to screw him over by filing an insurance claim right away, but to not get any money for it at all? I don't think you will be that lucky with the G35 driver
Yah, i'm a nice person. Well, he was a guy from my school (it happened in our school parking lot). He was also practically the boyfriend of one of my close friends. Akward situation. Plus, it was gonna cost 6-7 hundred dollars for a scuff on the bumper! My dad did suggest i tell him to pay me $500 and call it even (and not get anything fixed) but u cant do that to someone who goes to your school.. i dont think..? Haha. Anyways, maybe i will get some good karma?

This is a serious matter. Hummingbird and other avian related damages are a multibillion dollar problem in Canada.

That is why everyone should just drive old cars with those big metal bumpers, or 240sx's, since it costs about 6 - 700 dollars to replace the whole car

So i got the word... $1000 damage estimate. Does anyone else agree that is very steep? I will have to meet and take a look at the damage again but from what i remmeber, it was hardly visable. Dont worry, i will try and get my own estimate at a different place just to be sure. Just thought i'd share my terrible news. :'(

Sure sounds like they are replacing the bumper - that is about what it cost for my M45 when it was hit from behind. If the bumper was punctured or cracked, then this is the only way to do it right.

If just scratches and scrapes, then in theory, you could just paint it. That would reduce the cost by about the cost of the bumper and some installation charges for it.

I don't want to give you stupid ideas. I have a question for you. Were the cops involved in this?

It's not just the bumper tho.... it's what may be bent or screwed up behind the bumper.. maybe the re-bar needs to be replaced... that's what my 05 needed when someone hit me from behind..

No. You arent required to file a claim unless its over a certain amount of damage... $1500 i think? who knows.

They can't do nothing to you then. I am not saying not to pay but if they try to ripp you off. You can just walk away. It's been 2 weeks or 3 they did not report it. If they go to the police right now they going to tell them sorry we can't help. You have to report it right away. As I said I think you should pay this is just a case if they try to rip you off.

my back bumper and the adjacent got hit too. I got 3 estimates.

$600 to repair bumper and adjacent panel$985 to repair bumper and adjacent panel$1015 to replace bumper and repair adjacent panel.

I apologize I wish I could post a pic but I dont know how. It also depends if the owner wants it replaced with an OEM bumper or after market. Plus I heard from the news and I read it somewhere that G35's are one of the most pricest cars to repair cosmetically on minor accidents, which doesn't make me feel any better, and I heard this AFTER my bumper got hit. Good luck.

Its hard to accept any damage on any car for that matter as a result from an automobile accident. I pass by people everyday on my way to work and see people on the phone switching lanes without looking. I even yelled at a friend of mine for talking on the phone, while downshifting while making a turn, while holding a burger in his left hand. Talk about doing something dumb...

I'm very serious when I drive and take it personal when people act dumb on the road. Everyone who drives should fully understand that they are controlling vehicles in excess of 3,000 lbs down. The mere force alone at low speeds is more than enough to kill a person if struck. It's hard to imagine that fact when you have your stereo system bumpin with the AC blasting.I just wish people would take driving more seriously instead of doing all kind of crazy multitasking while driving or looking off to the side of the road or at other people in cars while in motion. That's how collisions happen. For the cars' sake I just wish all states would adopt the Civil Remediation Fee like in Virginia. Then people would think twice about what they are doing while they are driving.

I don't know about you guys, but I've poured plenty of blood and sweat into my car. Every bit of work has been done by my hands alone.I probably shouldn't even be behind a wheel for saying this...so I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

OMFG! thats a hell-a-lot-a damage!!! So, concidering the car that i hit had NO WHERE NEAR that much damage.. why would it cost $1000?!?!?! On a scale of 1-10, and that damage in the pic would be a 10 - then the damage i made was probably a 1. So wtf.

depends...that pic was damage focused on the corner of the rear bumper. The force could have been the same in your accident, but the damage isn't as visible. Only a body shop would be able to tell after taking off the bumper.

+1 for Joe again

If the impact was from the angle as we see it on the bumper than the bumper will obsorb the impact first and no further damage( if the impact wasn't too big). If you hit it from straight you pushing the whole bumper and the bumper does not look that bad due to the support behind it. But basically you move the whole support. They have to replace/repair the whole support behind it plus the bumper.
