The great thing about an open public forum is that people can state their opinions and have them challenged or supported by others untill the truth is found. Personal experience can be a great thing but it can also be quite missleading. Wrong conclusions are often drawn, incorrect assumptions are offen made and false causes are often identified. The automotive community is rife with fallacious lodgic, assumptions and self proclaimed experts. Keep in mind that while a chicken has more experience with laying eggs, the farmer understands a lot more about the process. So, having done something and gotten "X" result doesn't mean one understands what happened or knows the cause.
Bottom line, the best antidote for a bad input is more input. Clearly, these forums need to be moderated to ensure a open and productive dialogue. Things like nastyness, personal attacks and disruptive behavior should not be tolerated. But, it would defeat the purpose of the forum to have one person censor all discussions based on their personal opinion of what information is good or bad, or right or wrong. Especially since nobdy here has the knowledge to do so.
This forum should remain a place for open discourse and debate. People who read it understand this and will ultimatly decide what advise they chose to follow. It is nobody's job to protect readers of an open forum from the possibility of believing bad information. An attempt to do so would be destructive to the forum and would limit all ideas and information to that which is known by the individule controlling the discourse.
Not to mention the fact that that person just might not know as much as he thinks he does.
So, I suggest that things be kept civil by our moderators and the market place of ideas left to sort the good ideas from the bad ones.
