today I was driving home from work, when I left work the clutch was fine, I went over a bump on the road and I heard a noise in the back of the car. I didn't think much of it since I have some coilovers in the trunk, was coming up to a red light so I went to down shift the car and when I press on the clutch pedal it was super soft, the pedal is all the way down, about 2-3 inches from the floor. The car still runs and shift fine, but its hard to get it into first and reverse and when I do its a pretty rough engagement.

Any ideas, what could be woring with it. The car still runs strong.

sounds like my clutch befor, a few times i would get up to a light and stop. and randomly at times the car wouldnt go in first gear. i was lucky my friend was in the car and he helped me push that thing in gear. the transmission and gears are fine. it only did that like 3 times ever and it didnt do it for a whil.

btw, how do you put transmission fluid in an sr? iv never had to do it so i dont know how.

This happened to me 2 weekends ago out of nowhere also. Slave cylinder went bad, $29.00 later she works like a charm.

I have no idea what the topic starter's problem is because he confused the shat out of me but yes if you cant get into gear it is most likely the slave cylinder. also putting in transmission fluid is easy..on the driver side of the transmission you will see where to put it..take out the bolt and then pour in the fluid and when its seeping out you know you have enough

when your changing your transmission oil its so much easier to drain it through the bottom and then take your shifter out and refill through the top. Refilling through that side hole gets you in a cramped spot and it takes forever to do it. At least it did for me.

is it safe to put it in through the shifter? or does it even make a difference?

ya it seems like a good way to do it and much easier..only unsafe thing about it would be taking the chance of spilling oil on your interior so just be careful

also, Ive never been able to put in as much as the FSM says, so I open the side fill and then fill through the top till it comes out the side, so I dont overfill
