But I can't find the post no matter how I try. And YES I have tried using the search but no luck. I need a more powerful alt. as I've got a very powerful soundsystem and I'm about to add an alarm as well. Mine is no longer charging my battery. I remember reading in some post that instead of the 80 amps the 240's oem puts out, the quest's puts out 110. I also remember it said it was a direct bolt-in replacement except having to drill out a couple of bolt holes. My questiion is....what year(s) quest alt.'s could I use on my '93? I need to pick one up right away. How long have they made the quests? In other words is there any chance of finding one in a salvage yard that I could just grab the alt. off or do think it'd be smarter to just bite the bullet and buy a new one?

So question 1... What year(s) quest alternators are interchangeable with my 93 sx?

question 2...Have the quest's been out long enough to have good odds of finding one at a junk yard?

question 3...If you were broke would you then grab a used one from a junkyard or wait until you could afford a brand new one and get that instead?

Thanks for your help guys.

1. Look up the part on a place like rockauto.com... see when the part # changes for the year.

2. Yes, or a used parts place.

3. Depends on the car it's being put into. For my personal car, I'd do the junkyard alt. Even if the junky alt turns out to be crap, it could still be used for a core for a reman alt.

damn that's a huge sig, hahaha - isn't there a limit on the size of the sig? .

O yea, read the last post, someone tried using a 125A Quest one (99+). You may want to try that one and report back if that works w/ the ka w/ the same modifications. That may help out more ppl trying to do mad/crazy audio.

No problem. I just happened to be reading the Quest thread when you posted - I was on the audio forum because I was doing the speakers in my vert this weekend.
