yes, I trained her how to use my weapon. I've been shooting for about 15 years (dad was Chief of Police back home)..... you're 100% correct, it is a bad idea for anyone to have a firearm in a home if everyone that would potentially use it in a danger situation hasn't been properly trained! My earlier post about the loaded clips dealt with the fact that I don't want her fumbling trying to load a clip if someone is breaking into the house. THe gun and clips are in seperate places in the bedroom.. also, she knows not to follow anyone out of the house, self defense in home situations in California requires the individual to be in your home threatening you or your family!

In most of PA its as simple as going to the Sheriff's Office and applying, if the computer systems are up it takes about 15 min to half hour to get your photo [perm,it and it is good for 5 years. HOWEVER, in Philly area it is damn hard to get one, People have had trouble in the State College area as well (Centre County) but surprisingly no real issues getting one in allegheny County (Pittsburgh)

I got mine in Cambria County, where I think they actually automatically send you one on your 18th birthday, lol.

suburbs or not, its always sketchy to have your car outside. I live in the nicer part of my town, pretty much all 500k+ houses, we had 7 breakins and a HOME INVASION in the last 2 months all within like 2 miles of my house. One of the breakins INCLUDING MY HOUSE!

They got 2 laptops, my fathers wallet, and keys to all of my fathers cars (I live in an in-law apartment somewhat separated from the house so they didnt even get to my area). After that, my old man is getting a gun for me in my apartment (I have been shooting my whole life, and he has one in the master bedroom already). There are no more children in our home so we will all be sleeping better with weapons by our sides.

If someone breaks into our Home and threatens our wellbeing, they will not get very far. You dont mess with my family, period.

well, In California, they pretty much changed the laws making it almost imposible to get a C&C permit after the issues with the Black panthers back in the 60's and 70's. there are a few states that are notorious for blatantly denying almost all C&C permits. California is one of them!

yeah, there's been a lot more of that going on lately. These home invasions and guys robbing the homes in "nicer" neighborhods. Its a shame that we must resort to this, but nowadays, with the economy being what it is, and so many people losing their jobs, crime is up, expecially robberies and burglaries. IMO, protecting self and family is a must, by any means necessary!

Yeah, even quicker now, only took me 20 min. Hey, you can always carry your piece outside your clothes where its legal (most places), no law for that. You wanna walk up and down your street with a .44 hand cannon on each hip go ahead no one can stop ya. Just happened here where a Mom had her gun with her at a public game or something, people complained, they took her C&C and she said oh well, I guess I'll carry outside my clothes...needles to say the judge reinstated her C&C within a few days.

Here in PA, if you shoot someone for breaking into your car you WILL go to jail for a long time. CA gun laws are much much worse, so it can't be any better.

Bottom line is that unless your or your family's life is in danger, you cannot use your weapon.

I actually witnessed a break in, at a parking structure of UCSD at 4:00 freggin PM.

Top level of a parking structure, in broad day light. A STI was being molested, the guy saw me and took off.

I don't care whether these people have lost their jobs and money, robbing students is just about as low as it gets.

These a$$holes would steal the wheelchair off a paraplegic.

I am now getting an alarm installed when I'm in the bay area...

Doc, I sent you and e-mail.

That is true, BUT. You may pull your weapon to protect your property. You can not shoot unless you fear for your life or fear for your families life. But if he pulles a gun, or comes at you with a knife you can shoot and claim self defense.

You also can't shoot if he runs away, you are not even allowed to chase. If you chase him then a self defense plee is out the window. He could now shoot you an claim self defense. Probably still get charged with position of a concealed weapon, but not murder.

In CA you can only shoot somebody in your house who threatens your safety, and most importantly you don't have a reasonable way to escape. If you have a back door on your house and it is reasonable that you could have fled but shot thim dead instead, you'll get in deep doo-doo.

not necessarily... there are always extenuating circumstances...if i have an infant daughter sleeping and you break into my home, I'm killing you... point blank, end of discussion. no judge is gonna convict someone of murder when there's helpess family member involved...

in any case, the point of this thread got a bit derailed... again, I highly recommend any of you guys that have things in your car worth stealing get a pager alarm for your Altima Coupe.... in another thread, i go through a number of pager alarms... I'll try to find that thread!

Doc,

I'm sorry for scare there. It's definitely probably a wake up call for a lot of people on these forums about vandalism and theft.

With the way the economy is now and fact that it's probably going to get worse before it gets better, the rise in crime is definitely going to happen nationwide. Before this thread, I hadn't really been worried about my car being stolen, mostly just possibly some damage for parking it on the street (I live in an apt. building). Now I'm definitely thinking of installing an alarm with some of these new technologies like pager alerts instead of another mod that would more than likely bring more attention to theft. I do have a LoJack installed on my car, but no car alarm. But that doesn't do anything unless the car has already been broekn into and stolen.

This is just another reason why the economy is the most important thing for every American out there right now. Not just for job security and worry of bankruptcy, but all the safety of our prized possessions and most importantly our family.

I know this isn't a gun discussion forum but as you can tell from my display pic, I'm a gun fanatic. You mentioned 16 round mags... What firearm are you using? A Glock or a Springfield XD ?

They broke Roberts window, ripped out his Navi and dropped it on the ground (broke) when Robert fired off the warning shots. My window just got broken. I never thought it would be this crazy trying to find a window. It seriously is gonna rain all week, and I don't have a window. I can't even get one till wednesday, at the earliest
