Ive always read on how certain people act like ricers whenever u drive a nice car but it never happened to me, until today. So im leaving my ex-girlfriends house today and i come to a stoplight. Im just sitting there minding my own business with the window down cause it felt kinda good where i was today. All of a sudden a white 2000-2003 body style maxima turns onto the street im on going in the opposite direction. This guy couldnt be more than 21. He slows down when he gets next to my car, revs his engine, and then burns outs. And as he speeds of at about 50 mph i see him give me a thumb down out the window . From what i saw and heard his car was not modified in ANY way. I laughed my a** off as i drove down the street. He wishes he was behind the wheel of my coupe instead of his lil max LOL

Good attitude!! Laugh about it! I don't get much of that in the G's since they are sedans, but I do get it some in the cobra.

It's the assumption that gets to everybody, they see you in a sports car and they want to test you, now it hasnt happen to me around town but it has happened to me on the highway

Realize the 2k2+ Maxima 6mt can be some great competition for a G35. While they both share the VQ35DE, the Maxima is a few hundred pounds lighter (3224 vs 3512) and they do have all the bolt-on upgrades available other than boost (requires custom fab). I think the record for a NA Maxima 6mt with all the bolt-ons is high 12's in the 1/4. Stock vs. stock, put a Max 6mt against an auto G35 and the Max wins. 6mt vs. 6mt then the G should get the nod.

Now, what the Maxima owner did was a *****-move and shows that the prices of a VQ-max have dropped to the point that high school kids can tear them up without their parents realizing what the car they just bought JR can really do.

I had an 03 Maxima SE and it was a beast. Loved everything about the car. Especially the heated steering wheel!!

The only thing I did was put an intake on it. They have got to be pretty damn close to as fast as the G's. Because that car seriously boogied!!

But what that guy did is teh gayness...

I am tired of people following me all around my city trying to race me at every friggin oppotunity they get, because I have a G-35 Coupe. I am now at a point where I really need a police escort. I am beginning to feel like Britney Spears in my neighboorhood and city.

I was stopped by a cop a few days ago for speeding. He asked me why? I told him I was trying to get away from people hounding me on the road to go fast. He looked at my car, enjoyed the beauty of the car, smiled, and let me go. I guess even himself was stunned by the G-35s beauty.

So, I am at a point where, I might actually make a pre-police report to that effect so that when I go fast next time, and i get a ticket, I can pull up the report as my defense. I even had a guy who was behind me, hypnotized by the looks of my car, so much so, that he failed to press on his brakes and he then hit my license plate, squeezing it badly. Fortunately, nothing was damaged on the back of my car.

Not only that, when they are not behind being stunned, they drive recklessly around me with furious speed and lack of control, almost like raped apes or dogs in heat. What am I to do?

I have laughed about this, been scared about this whole change in the behavior of the other car drivers around me, when they see my car. It becomes totally inexplicable.

So, I am still trying to figure out how to ensure that other drivers don't go loco around me, anymore. I am sure I wil come up with something in the next year.

BTW, with the Stillen exhaust sound now, most drivers literally stand still waiting to hear my exhaust note when the traficc light turns green. This is another new development I have noticed since I installed the Stilen exhaust. There is virtually nothing about the G-35 Coupe that does not inspire madness and excitement in other drivers. This is remarkable for a car that costs less than a 3 - series.

Nissan will continue to have a hard time prying the G-35 out of the hands of its owners, for years to come. I beleive its design was simply one of the very best that Japan has prodiced in a long time. Absolutely stunning design, that sends all the right message to the driver and spectators alike.

Maxis are good cars. It may give you a hard time on straight but the cornering is not there.

I run into this ALL THE TIME.And the car that's usually the culprit? The new Camry.Seriously, I've seen a new Camry try and burn out next to PORSCHES.

It's completely ridiculous and totally laughable to see a Toyota try and play with much faster cars.

Not too sure about the 1/4 mile times on the Maxima.

The G Sedan would have NO problems taking out the Maxima.

I get this a couple of times a week but always by people in a BMW and once a tiburon, go figure. I should have raced and waxed him just to remind him he is driving a friggin TIBURON!!

I NEVER race them though, I usually just flip them off and go on about my business.

When they want to pay for my $1,200 tires I might consider it. I just chalk it up to their immaturity and envy

That max story is the classic case of envey and I'm sure it happens to all of us who drive G's and Z's glad you didn't step down to his level. Not sure where you are but there is a turbo 3.5 max in southern md fast as S*#T

The OP was talking about the 5th-gen Maxima so it was probably a 2002-2003. The heavier 2007 maxima is CVT only.

Realize that, just because I have a 2k2 Maxima, I do not believe it's in a class equal to the G. It's a sporty(ish) FWD sedan that has now become a bloated old persons mobile.

Dude, if I park my 5.5-gen next to a newer generation maxima it looks small. The newer maxima is wider and longer while they don't really seem to have any more interior room than mine (at least when I rented one it didn't seem more roomy).

The Altima is the Nissan 4DSC now, not the Maxima. That makes the Maxima a grandpa-mobile

whoever that guy was in the maxima is lucky tho..... if he had tried that move about 6 years ago when i first got my license, i woulda bucked a U-turn, chased him down and tailgated him, go on the wrong side of the road and pass his a**, cut in front of him, slam on my brakes right in front of him, then speed off with my hazard lights on . but since im more mature now, i just let it go

I wish I were that lucky. I rarely EVER get someone who revves up or wants to race.

Once again, I wish I were that lucky. I always get the ticket, but get off on technicalities.

Good luck on that. The police will LOL at you.

Drive like an adult. BTW, how old are you anyways? I'm not asking for an exact number, but curious, 20's, 30's, 40's?

I think it has a lot to do with your demeanor as well. If you're sitting at a light, and are keeping her revved at 3k, or tear off at every green light, you will draw attention, and especially the attention of those "looking for a race".

I don't think you have to be revving your engine at a stop light to draw other peoples attention looking to race, sometimes it just happens. I've had a 3 series just speed off when the light turned green and just just cut the crap out of me when i was just following the speed limit with out revving my engine. A lot of people are just little dooshbags with un-modded cars that have a popular name and drive a coupe and all of a sudden their speed racers. I also feel like racing your car in a an evacuated area where there's not too many people has nothing to do with age or your maturity level, don't tell me you got a g35 just bc you ONLY liked the looks of it, you know damn well you were appreciating the performance on it too. Grown *** man or not, majority of people in all different age groups and gender love racing.

I feel the same way about that. Im not the type of guy to go out and race everyone that revs at me, otherwise id probably be out racing right now. But if its a long stretch of open road and someone is asking for it ima give it to them....HARD . I had a 1.8 turbo passat tailgating me not too long ago and i put him in his place when he tried to pass me on open road

I have a 4th gen and a 6MT G coupe. I can judge the difference. I know I'll get flamed for this, but I think I like the feel of FWD better than RWD. It seems to require less effort to move in FWD and a lot in RWD.

But anyways, the maxima wasn't mean to be a sports car. It's a sedan. It has a very flexible chasis and even a poorly tuned VQ30DE can spin tires.

To date, I've only seen 3 maximas that were worth anything (mine), someone who recently bought some of my spare parts and another friend of mine who had CF, and a nice suspension setup.

The rest of them in the area are stupids. They put Dubs on their Maxis and then try racing me.

Or their rear suspension is so bad that they look like they're low riders with the rears dragging.

I have yet to meet a maxi driver that could actually hold their own in a race. I emphasize the "meet" part of that sentence. I know there are a lot of guys in the Max/I30 forum who are great drivers, but the ones around me are mostly a-holes.
