While they both share the VQ35DE, the Maxima is a few hundred pounds lighter (3224 vs 3512) and they do have all the bolt-on upgrades available other than boost (requires custom fab). I think the record for a NA Maxima 6mt with all the bolt-ons is high 12's in the 1/4. Stock vs. stock, put a Max 6mt against an auto G35 and the Max wins. 6mt vs. 6mt then the G should get the nod.
Now, what the Maxima owner did was a *****-move and shows that the prices of a VQ-max have dropped to the point that high school kids can tear them up without their parents realizing what the car they just bought JR can really do.
The OP was talking about the 5th-gen Maxima so it was probably a 2002-2003. The heavier 2007 maxima is CVT only.ACoupe wrote:I expect it to be no problem whatsoever for a 2007 GCoupe to take an 07 Maxima.0-60 on the Maxima 6.30-60 on the Coupe 5.5

With a 172hp V6 it has less power than my wifes POS Cougar.
I think i might know which max ur talkin about. I used to work at Six Flags and one of the guys i worked with had a blue 2003 that was fast as S*** . i never saw him lose a race. If thats not the one ur talkin about.......... then may god help us allblack08 wrote:That max story is the classic case of envey and I'm sure it happens to all of us who drive G's and Z's glad you didn't step down to his level. Not sure where you are but there is a turbo 3.5 max in southern md fast as S*#T
Agreed ... I loved my 03 SE... awesome ,reliable car. ANd even slightly modded... it could hang with a GSVTCOBRA wrote:I owned a 2002 SE and it was very nice!!! Sporty, fun. Do not care for the latest gen. at all. Looks too big and less sporty.
I haven't matured enough yet, because that's EXACTLY what I would do.mycoupe8urs wrote:whoever that guy was in the maxima is lucky tho..... if he had tried that move about 6 years ago when i first got my license, i woulda bucked a U-turn, chased him down and tailgated him, go on the wrong side of the road and pass his a**, cut in front of him, slam on my brakes right in front of him, then speed off with my hazard lights on . but since im more mature now, i just let it go
I wish I were that lucky. I rarely EVER get someone who revves up or wants to race.Jacko3 wrote:I am tired of people following me all around my city trying to race me at every friggin opportunity they get, because I have a G-35 Coupe. I am now at a point where I really need a police escort. I am beginning to feel like Britney Spears in my neighborhood and city.
Jacko3 wrote:I was stopped by a cop a few days ago for speeding. He asked me why? I told him I was trying to get away from people hounding me on the road to go fast. He looked at my car, enjoyed the beauty of the car, smiled, and let me go. I guess even himself was stunned by the G-35s beauty.
Good luck on that. The police will LOL at you.Jacko3 wrote:So, I am at a point where, I might actually make a pre-police report to that effect so that when I go fast next time, and i get a ticket, I can pull up the report as my defense.
Drive like an adult. BTW, how old are you anyways? I'm not asking for an exact number, but curious, 20's, 30's, 40's?Jacko3 wrote:Not only that, when they are not behind being stunned, they drive recklessly around me with furious speed and lack of control, almost like raped apes or dogs in heat. What am I to do?
I think it has a lot to do with your demeanor as well. If you're sitting at a light, and are keeping her revved at 3k, or tear off at every green light, you will draw attention, and especially the attention of those "looking for a race".Jacko3 wrote:So, I am still trying to figure out how to ensure that other drivers don't go loco around me, anymore. I am sure I will come up with something in the next year.
I feel the same way about that. Im not the type of guy to go out and race everyone that revs at me, otherwise id probably be out racing right now. But if its a long stretch of open road and someone is asking for it ima give it to them....HARD . I had a 1.8 turbo passat tailgating me not too long ago and i put him in his place when he tried to pass me on open roadjae_k wrote: I also feel like racing your car in a an evacuated area where there's not too many people has nothing to do with age or your maturity level, don't tell me you got a g35 just bc you ONLY liked the looks of it, you know damn well you were appreciating the performance on it too. Grown *** man or not, majority of people in all different age groups and gender love racing.
I have a 4th gen and a 6MT G coupe. I can judge the difference. I know I'll get flamed for this, but I think I like the feel of FWD better than RWD. It seems to require less effort to move in FWD and a lot in RWD.fre$h_turk wrote:whoa ....hold on...I would never trade my maxima for a g35....
and its not nice of you to s**t on the maxima ...
its the driver that you should throw s**t on... We also dislike the ppl like that with maximas.. in maxima community
There are kids with G35s and 350zs who park next to me all the time... I wonder why that is
