Greetings all 240's Owners,

I am the creator of the thread ATTENTION! Z31/Altima Rotor Rear Brake Owners!. In that thread I discuss how using the 87-88 Z31 caliper bracket was unsafe to use due to various reasons. Since then many, I myself included, have tried to come up with solutions to work around the 84-86 caliper bracket which is more similar to our stock bracket in terms of rotor thickness.

After many hours of research I have finally come up with the solution to this age old dilemma on which rotor to use.

But first off I would like to point out issues that still persist in using the 84-86 Z31 Caliper Bracket with this newly discover rotor.
1. When the rear wheel has no load (weight) on it, your e-brake cable bracket will touch the rear sway bar endlink bolts. The reason for this is because the Z31 brake setup will push the caliper bracket backwards about an inch or so. This causes the endlink bolts to interfere with the e-brake bracket as seen in the first picture below. In SOME cases, people with coilovers do not experience this problem and obviously if you did not have a rear sway bar this wouldn't be an issue as well.

2. Caliper alignment pins will be pushed out further but still remain fully fuctional. (Not really a problem, just a notable fact)

Along with those previously notable things, some new things need to be altered in order to run this setup.

1. A pair of washers to space out the bracket, one for each side.

2. A small piece of metal that extends outward and slightly touches the rotor seen in the second picture below. To fix this, the metal that sticks out simply needs to be ground down to fully accomodate the larger rotor.

And now for the moment of truth...

You will need the rear rotor from a 1990-1995 BMW 530i custom machined to a 5x114.3 (or 4x114.3 depending on your application).

But hold on... There are several reasons why you should preorder your rotors through COCARO Racing. First off, the hub diameter is larger than stock so you will not be able to simply rely on the hub to center the rotor with your hand drilled holes. Only machining will achieve a perfect sized hole in the exact 4 or 5 lug pattern. Secondly, along with all orders I ship out, I will provide a custom hub centric ring to center the rotor on the hub, thus reducing all chances of misalignment.

I will be taking preorders probably by the beginning of April. Although we do not have our exact pricing set in stone, this rotor kit will most likely be ranged in the $100-$150 range (Shipped) and it will include: (2)Custom Machined Rear Rotors (Blanks, Drilled, Slotted, or D/S; 4 or 5 Lug), (2) Hub Centric Rings for the Rotors, (2) Spacing Washers (For Bracket Alignment). All preorders will be a part of a custom batch order, after the first batch is sorted and shipped out to customers, I will keep a regular stock of these rotor kits for immediate shipment.

And there you have it, the solution to the Z31 Brake Caliper Bracket Upgrade brought to you by LoserCard user of NICOClub.com and owner and operator of COCARO-Racing.com. For additional information contact me via NICOClub Private Message or email [email protected]

I would prefer if you just posted the information.....

I don't have an issue with you linking your page, but forcing people to jump off site for information is a no no.

Good deal. I will have to read through the other thread and find out more about this. Lots of options for the 240. Thanks for figuring it out man. Great work.

Sorry but these kits never came to production. Not enough interest in them since the setup required Z31 brackets which are slightly rare. Your best option would be to just buy rotors and have a machine shop match our hub bore. Shouldn't be more than $30-40.

Hey,
I want upgrade rear brake on my S13 but i have 200sx not 240sx. My S13 have drums on rear, so i want use rotor from Nissan Tiida (292mm x 9mm and height 62mm, e.g. Brembo 08.A715.20) but i don't know if will work.

Anyone knows the dimensions Altima rotor? or brembo parts number
I think that the diameter is 291-292mm and thickness 9mm, but i don't know total height this rotor.

sorry for my english
