Yeah I had to do it guys, I sold my 90 240sx. I must be getting old. Im 5'10 240 lbs and couldnt take the 80 miles a day in this little car. All my dreams of the sr20det went to s... but i got me a sweet 93 saab 9000cset for 2,000. I love the ripping of shifts with the 240 and rear wheel drive and of course the handling but, Saab is on another level! I can beat most cars on the highway with this 2.3 liter turbo, including 3000gt sl's 300zx Na's and 3 series beamers and 230 kompressors. Lots of these cars on the highway that think they are big ****. These cars would rip me apart with the 240. But know i can race these cars and when im done i can sit back and relax in my automatic air conditioner, leather seats and the quiet interior listening to my loud *** system. And i got 1,600 left over to buy me and ecu upgrade, BPV valve, down pipe, and some suspension parts. I know someday ill be back in the 240 craze but it will be with a 98 5 speed 240 with big sr20 mods already in the car. But thats just me dreamin. We shall see!

Good luck with the Saab. I have tried several times to leave the 240 world and I keep coming back for more.

I love Saabs and their quirks, they're real sleepers even though most people know they're turbo, they don't know how fast they really are. Too bad they're wrong-wheel-drive. I do love the Viggen coupe.

Saabs are pretty cool sleepers, but nothing can beat a modded Turbo Brick! It's boxy AND fast.

Anyway, good luck with the Saab. I don't know a lot about them, but I've always admired them from a styling standpoint.

Im gonna be very honest, 240sx are way more stylish than the saab but the european box look grows on you. Imma go with hp and comfort for now. Its been fun though.

I remember once I smoked an 80's Saab with my lil ol Civic once.

but that was one of the hideous 80's models. I think they have improved just a little over the years. And I am not sure just how hard he was trying.

The old saabs were not that fast if they are not turbo, the turbo model is 170hp which will smoke any ka24 engine. The model i have is 200hp. Soon to be at least 245 with a chip. Christmas is great!!!! What i learned from the 3 years of 240sx owner is not to bolt on anything! The only good mods i consider doing was the ACT clutch and Helical LSD. Everything else was crap! If you want performance for real people should get either nitrous or a turbo.

yeah 240 only lover i like that lol. i too only like 240s if i was given any amount of money i wouldnt buy a benz, bmw, whatever id use that money and shove it all in a s13. how fast a car is doesnt really matter to me. if speed really mattered to me id just get a v8 chevy or a crx/eg. its just the love of the car. most people i know look a tthe 240 as a first car to get and then they think about changing to a impreza/lancer later on i look at the 240 as a car to keep for life

170hp won't smoke any KA engine. The DE is 155 stock, and the Saab is heavier. Also, if you weren't noticing differences from bolt-ons, either you got crappy parts or something was wrong with your car.

Yeah, looked up some 1/4 times, the 200hp saab is about .4s faster than the 240, the 170hp one has the same 1/4 time as the 240.

I know everybody on here is a little biased on the subject. But cmon guys i have driven both my 90 240 with all the mods you see which realistically gave me a wopping 10 -15 hp and my aunts 93 240 stock. There is no way in hell a 240 ka engine can even match up to this saab 9000. Off the line, and definatly not highway. Curves, other story.

I dont know if 170 hp saab can beat a 240. I dont know the weight diffrence on that car. The car that pills posted is that saab. That car is definatly ugly and i would never buy that.

However my car looks much better, not saying better than the 240 but, its not as bad as that saab 900.

My car is a 9000 notice the number of zeros.

.4 faster than the saab with 200 hp, sorry to say that is completly crap! The saab times are in the mid to low 15. 240 times stock are in the 16, 17. My saab weighs 3,100lbs , the 240 2,700lbs. Not much difference. And im also talking about a stock saab engine here. Where did you get your info Insanityinc? I noticed diffrences from parts and please your going to tell me you felt drastic changes from parts you bolted on? please! The one drastic change i felt was when i put down the pedal the first time i got in that saab. Much faster, more comfortable, more quiet, and i can fit 4 girls and maybe some lumber if i wanted to. Heres a pic of the car i have.

Well comments made by InsanityInc have been on my mind, so i did something about it and looked up all the stats for my car in car a driver magazine. heres what i found.

93 saab 9000cs turbo

engine: 2.3L 4 cylinder

Horse power: 200@5000rpm

Torque: 244@2000rpm

Weight: 3,147lbs

Power to weight ratio: 15.7 dont know what this means...

0-60mph: 6.8 secs

0-100mph: 17.5 secs

1/4 times. 15.3@94mph

top speed: 141 mph @ 5000rpm

Braking 70 to 0 mph: 192 feet

So i think its pretty hard to beat those numbers. Anybody know the stock numbers for the 240sx s13?15.3 in quarter mile is pretty good no? I ran a 16.5 with my ex-240 on the track. that was with all the bolt ons.

2K is not a bad price. That car looks like its in excellent shape. Torque kills too. Thats why I like the KA-turbo. Nice to see Saab likes torque too. Don't have too much fun, parts look like they might be hard to find. Again nice price.
