and the s*** motoman does is just welding an sr flange onto the ka mani right? I've read the write up a while ago but I forget n im in my phone. not to swoop on his service but I can have that done locally if you want. one of our techs is a nut with turbo setups.

Yeah.
He bevels the edges, heats it up and welds it.

How much can you get it done for though?
Does he have a KA head to make sure the flanges get welded flat?

if we give him all the parts, depending on how long it took he'd most likely not charge me. if it was a b**** and took him sevral hours id imagine he'd want compensation. and wed have to source the ka head and give it to him

SoCal-S13 wrote:my argument in the ka vs sr comes from firsthand experience. I've had two kade's both over 210k miles and not a single problem. I don't abuse my cars, but I do have fun. lots and lots of fun, and the ka is down to party.

between 3 of my friends they went through 7 sr's last year alone. 7...I dunno bout you but I prefer having a motor I know will kick over even under rough circumstances (like when I drove with a blown radiator hose, or busted a mission with a dime size hole in the oil pan). the ka may not be the fastest or most powerful or the most fun, but when the s*** hits the fan you know your ka's got your back.
They went through 7 SR's because they didn't know wtf they were doing or didn't know where to get their engines from. Probably dogging the s*** out of them and tuned like crap. After the 2nd or 3rd one build it?? Comparing a N/A KA to a turbo SR Wow. N/A SR will last just as long. When you start f*** with turbo engines/forced induction you'll understand. Like comparing a 300ZX N/A or TT, Mitsubishi 3000 NA/VR4TT or Supra NA to single/TT, which ones do you really think are still around?? Ding ding N/A!! :inoutgay:

The egays arnt bad, i had the obx and it actually wasnt to bad. only problem i had was that it cracked at one of the welds. But i also put a few thousand miles on it before it cracked. For around a hundred bucks you really cant go wrong.

Haha, but it's 7 bucks!
They still sell the OEM S15 shift knob? I didn't know that!

Btw, I didn't want to bother with buying all the stuff needed to weld the cast manifold so I just sent it to Moto. :P

i was gonna suggest that. our tech took vacation 2 or 3 days ago. how much does motoman charge and how much was shipping.

yeah i guess nissan is still selling the shift knobs. and theyre bnib from the dealer. dont get any better than that. as for the $7 plug...oem parts just give me this warm fuzzy feeling inside.

I don't know how much Moto is gonna charge me, but shipping was 20, plus he's gonna remove the broken studs that are supposed to hold the heatshield and clean/helicoil their threads.
He's also found a heatshield for me for 5 bucks.

Haha I know what you mean about OEM parts.

Hey man you and me got to hit up GMR since your ride seems to be running good again. I have been running my new Subie wagon up there and want to take the 13 some time soon to get more seat time.

I know man. I've got the paint lined up just waiting for our new shop to open. were moving into a 36000sq ft building, which is about three times the size of our old shop. gonna have 4 lifts, parts dept, paint, wheel repair, the whole 9. I just gotta play the waiting game til it goes down

Yellow fogs with HID headlamps is always a good combo.
