I thought I'd see lots of discussion regarding the new Q. I'm guessing it won't be called the Q45 anymore. Or will it? Is there any decent information available yet?

It's still rumors and we have yet to see a concrete specs. There's some guesses of artist rendition floating here and from other forum. It's being keep secret for now by Infiniti and hopefully it's going to be darned good.

Nissan hasn't made a Q since 1996, since Cima was utilized to fool the public, so why should they start now.

Just what they need a 390 HP 5.0 liter with $4-$5 gasoline.

WOW, exactly what I was thinking. I dont think they would even know HOW to produce a car that could ever be competitive in the US marketplace with the top Lexus,Audi,Bmw,MB -sad, but buyers have not even cross shopped Infiniti in the top teir segment since the very early 1990`s after years of crappy Nissan marketing and mediocre vehicles in this segment

The 97-2006 models sales failures and total lack of panache in the consumers eye may have kicked Infiniti out of the consumers eye at this level for good?

we have it good here my uncle pays for every liter and well guess what a gallon is about $10. Nissan could build a 5.0l V8 car but they need to put more gears and make the design a little better. look at the pontiac G8. sadly im starting to like that car.... ill be disappointed in Nissan if they dont step up to the plate. im speaking seven speed with a very good rear end! the have the GM support too now so wtf?

Guys! Have you no confidence in Infiniti?! The G35 and G37 are selling quite a bit. People LOVE these cars. And the new M35 and M45 are doing well also.. Again, people love these cars. They're bringing people back into Infiniti showrooms.. The SUVs are quite nice as well.. If there's another "Q", people will be intrigued...

As for searching.. I tried but came up empty. Maybe I didn't try hard enough. Is the model name supposed to be different? Like Q56 or something like that? If so, than I'll continue searching under the newer model name...

True, true, but the 90-96 models are to "eye catching" themselves

I'm gonna take a look at the Genesis when it's in the showroom, just to see. Wish the US would get the Holden Caprice, also another potential Q in Q's clothing:

Seems like interesting times{gas prices} for a economy car company to try to launch a luxury v8 powered sedan? Could you ask for a more difficult task?

I just read the RWD V8 Genesis will run on 87 octane and they are hinting at forced induction for future models, taking it well above 400HP. So you don't have to buy premium fuel. Worth a look in my opinion, seeing as I haven't been in an Infiniti showroom since 1996. As long as another part doesn't fall off the Hyundai every time you slam the door...

I'm going to say it again. 2010, Nissan/Infiniti should release a 20th anniversary Q. I'd like to see a re-designed G50. Give the chassis a designation of G51 or G55. Whatever.

Too many people out there don't know what the hell a Q45 is. They need a kick in the pants. I'm tired of being asked "What car do you drive?" and I reply, "A Q45." and I'm met with blank stares instead of the adulation and admiration that I, as a Q owner so richly deserve.

Or, that could just be my ego talking again.

I get this all the time too. Some guy even asked me, "Who makes Infinitis? Lexus?"

Wow.

That's just dumb.

Ugh. It pains me to see the Q not getting the respect it deserves. I can only do so much on my own. By that I mean, putting uppity drivers in their place on the roads and letting them get a long hard look at those badges. "Read 'em and kill yourself. Sucker."

honestly i dont care that anyone knows what a Q is... If someone asks, i tell them I drive an Infiniti.. If they dont know what that is, who cares..

Heres my point. We all here drive Q45s because we know they are the better car. If we all wanted "street credit" we'd all be driving BMW, Mercedes, or Lexus...

I feel comfortable knowing I paid less for a FAR better car!

True. But still. I'd hate to have people think that I'm on the same level as their junkers.

They never know what a Q is, but when they see me pull up in it, they go "Wow, that's a nice car!" and I smirk and go "I know."

I'm having a little difficulty breathing... must be all the "smug" (South Park reference) in here. I drive a Q because it's cheap and it goes from here to there and usually gets me back. I drive a BMW also because it was not too expensive and I like how it's built (solid, with quality materials and not a lot of extra silly frills).

And yeah, I'd like to have a used Aston DB9, but it's out of my price range by about $100K at this point. And besides, I live on a rock road and there's deer everywhere around here.

Hi Sal!

Yeah, the G3x is nearly perfect. The Q45 was a fantastic car, but I'm not confident in Nissan's ability to offer something in that segment that would be as great (taking its time period into consideration) ever again.

Even Cadillac has backed away from offering full-size RWD luxury, neutering the STS with the new CTS, and leaving the DTS on a capable but dated front-drive platform through the end of the decade.

The S-class is a high-tech train wreck, and the 7-series is hideous.

Lexus finally won.

I still dream of a new Q45. The new Lexus models aren't so great looking IMO. I'm not too crazy about it.

Jesda, how often do you switch cars?

But let's take a step back, the big rear drive luxo is not dead....what is left are ones for the rich. Mercedes S Class and BMW 7 Series are running around California like they are free. The LS460 has a huge following already with tons of them on the road. If your buying a new 70-120k new car, you probably do not even buy your own gas and if you do the difference between $45 a tank and $90 a tank is about the same as the average NICO board members $4 bucks he's got in change in his console.

Bottom line, powerful rear drive luxo cars are not dead and will not die as long as there are people that have enough $$ to buy them. I my dad just dropped down on a LS460, which BTW, gets mid 20's with the 8 speed transmission (and a 73 year old guy driving it, I'm sure i could drop it down to the mid teens). But his business pays for the gas so he doesn't have any interest in the price of gas other than to complain he remembers when it was .29 cents.

There is a place for a Q45 if Infiniti builds the right one. Now it will take a smoking looking 5.6 liter 400+ horsepower car with a proper back seat (no more gas tank taking up leg room) that is cheaper than a LS460 and has similar quality.

BTW, most people think the Lexus is WAY more quality than the Infiniiti, it is a Toyota after all.

Did anyone see the new Maxima? Nissan tends to make its entire lineup look alike -- lets hope that doesn't happen to the Q.
