Hi Jesda! Hi Wes! Good to see you guys..

Honestly, I believe there will ALWAYS be a market for very large, full-size comfortable luxury cars. They're not going anywhere.

Maybe Infiniti can take the lead here - since there's no "Q" at the moment - and start from scratch. Maybe have the first full-sized luxury car with a powerful RWD V6 that gets truly excellent gas mileage. I know the Acura RL is kind of this already - but it's FWD, right? And it's not very big..

With gas prices the way they are, will it really need a V8? I'm sure there are ways to make a big car light enough and aero-dynamic enough that a V6 or even possibly a 4cyl with twin turbo could do the job. With the 4cyl, you'll just need a good bit of sound deadening material - but the power of the twin turbos would make that unimportant.

Any thoughts?

Maybe. I like having a V8 though. I love pulling up the gas station and watching the faces of the attendants change when I tell them to fill me up with Premium.

I like that nobody knows what it is, and especially the pedestrian looks. I'm pretty sure it wil never be broken into since it looks rather boring, and that since my newly loudened dual tailpipes exit in the same location people assume it's just a whacky V6. Oh, I love the ignorant car owner. For only they could confuse the distinct chorus belched by the brute power of a V8. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh... I missed that sound!

I think a V8 is in obligation to a Q45. Don't they have V8's that shut off one bank during cruise/light throttle to save gas? I know Dodge has one and its a DODGE!

On another note, I love it when people ask, "What kind of car is that?" or "Is that an Acura?" or my favorite, "Is that a Jaguar?"

Again, people love these cars. They're bringing people back into Infiniti showrooms.. The SUVs are quite nice as well.. If there's another "Q", people will be intrigued...

As for searching.. I tried but came up empty. Maybe I didn't try hard enough. Is the model name supposed to be different? Like Q56 or something like that? If so, than I'll continue searching under the newer model name...
Man, I couldn't agree more. How can you guys say that Infiniti couldn't complete with the germans and other japanese? Come on....the g37 is a sweet car, and ALL of their vehicles are priced in the lower end relative to the cars you are so callously comparing them to. Don't make me hunt down sales figures....

I don't remember Infiniti existing from 94-98...with the exception of the Q the cars were just....forgettable. That includes the j, and I've owned one...300z without t tops anyone?

Its funny, I de-badge all my rides, so once I had a chance I de-badged the Q. I have been asked, is it a Lexus, Acura, (one lady uttered Mazda ). Then I tell them no its an Infiniti Q45. They go Ohhhhh. I gave a lady a ride home one day and she said her parents used to own this ride, but oddly enough she said, "Well at least you keep her clean). I didn't respond to her statement, because I didn't know if it was a compliment or a diss. As a car guy, when some one says At Least, meaning "Well your ride is dated but its clean....LOLOLOL)

On a serious note, I have gotten nothing but compliments since I cleaned her up. Seeing that these cars are not seen on the road as much they tend to stand out. The cabin is where you can tell its age, only because of the buttons. The clock is a center piece that generates conversations any time some one enters the car. I would love to know how to use the integrated phone feature some day. I think the key with the Q45 is to keep her as clean as possible.

I feel the same way. No one knows what my car is even though it's badged. Then, they can't believe that it's 16 years old. For it's age, I think it looks fantastic. The styling doesn't look dated (at least IMO).

Nissan has to put out a Q45 replacement if they want to be taken seriously. I think they need to make it a Japanese Maserati Quattoporte.

Toyota has the boring and high tech sides covered with the LS460. Nissan needs to put some passion into the new Q and make it bold and I don't mean bold in a Chris Bangle kinda way...I mean it should be a stunner and not bland or boring or ugly. Please no more ugly cars, Nissan.

Powertrain-wise, we can expect a version of the new VK50 with the 7 speed trans. The new Q with ~400 hp should move out nicely.

I miss the Q. I was depressed when Infiniti chose to halt production of the original flagship after 2006. Now its the "M". Don't get me wrong, I love the look of the M45/35, but the company flagship should be a real Full-size powerful luxury sedan.I hope that they do bring back the Q, and I agree with previous posts, a 20th anniversary edition comeback would be nice in 2010. Whether it be a Q45, Q50, Q56, or whatever, it needs to be a BEAST. A V8 with 400+ HP, maybe even an optional Q45s supercharged model like the new jaguars. WOW! Now that would get some attention in the market. I know we are all worried about fuel economy. Well, the technology is already being utilized in GM and other models to shut down 2 to 4 cylinders when you're just rolling around town.A 20th anniversary Q would look great with some old classic G50 attributes like flush chrome door handles and such.Regardless, I hope Infiniti brings it back.......soon.
