My (newly engaged) fiance & I are planning on starting a family soon after the wedding (April '08), and also own an American Bulldog. The Civic just won't do! The Rogue's cargo area is perfectly sized for the pooch, plus the backseats will hold one or two car seats nicely

The Civic was a 6 speed manual, and although I do miss it at times, the CVT automatic is really growing on me. I sure don't miss all the shifting when city driving

Rogue model purchased/planned to purchase? I have an Indigo Blue SL AWD with the works. My job takes me all over the place with all types of weather so I outed for the awd even though I live in Los Angeles. So far, impressed and very pleased with the way it drives, more like a car, which is what I'm used to and I love the manual shift mode, all my previous vehicles have been manual transmissions, so it's a nice compromise.

Interesting fact/hobby? Traded our 2005 F-150 XLT in for the Rogue. Wife decided she wanted a car again and with gas prices and the fact that we had 2 trucks, we decided we could do with 1 truck. We live on a ranch with a gravel road and we do a lot of hauling/trailering so owning a truck is a necessity. Granted the 05 F-150 is better at towing, but the Harley F-150 is almost paid for and we didn't want 2 car payments. We chose the Rogue because it's high off the ground, small and maneuverable, and good on gas. Typically we buy Ford, but the only thing comparable is the Escape and the wife didn't like it.

As an engineering type, that variable pitch pulley transmission scared me a bit, but after driving it for the last two weeks, I have to say that if feels nice. The vibration, or noise which was mention in another post is the slack side of the belt flopping up and down a little, nothing to get concerned about.

I was looking for something with a lot of safety features that can get around everyday in snow, mud, wet, etc city driving. Must have some cargo space and can comfortably seat a family of four. The other big concern was a higher seating vehicle with good fuel economy. My previous vehicle was a four door Mitsu Lancer... aged 37.
