You guys are here because at one point in time you owned an Altima Coupe. It was likely attractive to you at that time because it was a practical coupe choice for a daily driver. It was priced properly. The car is good at what it does.

Do you think Nissan still feels that way? Is another coupe coming? Or is it dead?

Better yet, if Nissan kills the coupe, it is ok if it is the sacrificial lamb for a BRZ fighter?

Will you buy another coupe after this one? If you've bought another car, what was it?

If Nissan makes another Altima Coupe, what changes would you like to see?

Interesting questions.....

I think the ac is a great car although I am not sure what the market for it is and if it can sustain it. When the AC launched in late 2007 (when I joined NiCo) the forums were lit up with activity based upon it being a new offering and the place to find information on it. Now NiCo is still THE place for information and insight on the AC but with similar priced, more performance based cars being offered it is in a pinch. A rwd AC with some changes COULD be the brz fighter, but I doubt they will do it, for the "splash" I would expect them to offer a new model to compete.

I really want to see what some of the other guys have to say, maybe even Mehdi will comment!

Yes and no, and I beg to differ. But thats a conversation not intended for public boards. I have discussed my purchase of the AC in the past, but with the new NSFW rules I cannot again. Search "Gathering of the Vibes" and author "DJ_B_Easy" and you will get your answer.

Do you think Nissan still feels that way? Is another coupe coming? Or is it dead? Dead, hopefully killed with fire.

Better yet, if Nissan kills the coupe, it is ok if it is the sacrificial lamb for a BRZ fighter? Absolutely, kill it with fire.

Will you buy another coupe after this one? If you've bought another car, what was it? I would not buy another coupe. I just bought a Jeep. Grown man stuff.

If Nissan makes another Altima Coupe, what changes would you like to see? Kill it with fire, then start from the ground up.

Someone's a negative nancy. :)

I doubt another a/c is coming.

I wouldn't mind them scratching it for something to compete with the BRZ.

I plan on having the coupe for another decade if it lets me although I do plan on buying another vehicle to have along side it.

I guess if they were to come out with a new a/c, put an SER version out and not make it so high off the ground.

^^^^ Exactly what Beasy said, I liked the coupe when I got it, but over three years, my feelings have changed and I want to get rid of it... plus with new offerings out there that are way better than the coupe, it seems definite that the car will be killed with fire to make room for a baby Z.

All said, I cannot wait until I get rid of this thing in a year or two, but I'm fine with it for now. I need my self some grown man stuff too, preferably diesel, preferably german, preferably quattro, preferably something I actually fit in, Audi Q5 TDI is my next ride.

Dont get me wrong, the AC did me right for the years I had it. But in those 5 years I learned a lot (through this forum as LBC eluded to) and I grew out of it mentally before I did physically and realistically. I was kind of over it almost 2 years ago.

Just my opinion....

I guess I'm waiting on the 2015 Mustang, why? Independent rear suspension, totally restyled. Direct injection. Before I bought my coupe the Mustang was in the running. But because the coupe was more technologically advanced I went with it. I still love my coupe and will probably keep it for a daily driver when I get the Mustang.

The coupe is definitely not dead, however, if Nissan decides to kill it as a sacrificial lamb for the BRZ then I don't mind. As long as they come up with something affordable.

This is my second coupe so I'm definitely not buying a 3rd one.

Changes I would like to see: RWD option, wider fenders (for stance reasons :mike )

The coupe is going to die. I can only speak out of owning a 2.5 though. I wish they didn't restrict the crap out of this thing like the restriction of WOT, governor, rev limiter, and yes had they made a RWD that wouldve been practical.

I would not get another Coupe. I got this one at a great deal and I did not want to pass it up. However, once I hit a certain point where I want to sell it, I would like to get a G35. I've never been much into luxury cars and the G35 just about does it for me. Or perhaps an American car this time like the Camaro or a new Stang.

I've even considered going back to another 3000GT (VR4 this time) and buying a truck to go with it. With the price I paid for my AC I could definitely afford two cheaper cars.

The restriction with WOT, etc. is across the board with current Nissan products. This is coming from a current 370Z owner. I agree, it sucks, but at least with the Z there is aftermarket support available that gives you the option of nixing a lot of these, most recently, the non-linear throttle issue (WOT restriction). The Altima never got this kind of support sadly. Those with deeper pockets that didn't feel bad about spending the cash went after some things as one-offs. We've had people with turbo kits, transmission swaps, and ECU tunes - none of which were really advertised or widely available. In the case of turbo kits, the horror stories are why there aren't any current members that have turbo kits that weren't custom.

I have noticed a trend where the Coupe couldn't generate a market of people who would really stand by it - it was always a great car, but mostly I've seen it serve as a bridge to another car. Some people went for a true sports car  , some people went for a car with more doors (it seemed the Acura TSX was a very common choice for a while), and some people went with things a bit more luxurious (I have seen people go to BMW 3-series and Infiniti Gs).

Actually my 2004 Altima was more of a bridge until I bought a coupe. I was really attracted to the style of the AC and i wanted a car with low miles so the AC was the perfect choice. I love this car, don't get me wrong. Now that I got myself a car with more style, I would like my next car to have a little go to it =)

I still very much love my car going on 1.5 years and still have many plans for it. However I do have a time frame in mind and would love to get into a G35 or whatever is similar newer in four years or so.

Bought mine in April of 2011. Not feeling the AC anymore, especially since its a 4 banger. I loved it when I first got it I guess because it's my first car but I want something faster and luxurious. Kill it off lol. I'm going for a used Audi a5 coupe ^^ in a couple of years and use the AC for daily driving.

I liked the look (once i was done molding the lip in), Interior was there in terms of luxury (for the cost) Could not complain about the seats

Judging by what they offered in 2013? im sure Nissan is phasing out the Alti Coupe...

I probably would buy another but under the circumstances of how i lost mine, i would not due to anxiety and PTSD.

BRZ fighter? sure... if they AWD and supercharge the thing

I just wish I'd been able to find a manual transmission version. It sounds way too funny when I gun it and the car doesn't shift. I love my coupe. I'm going to keep it until it explodes. With fire...

That would be more expensive than a Z, and would totally defeat the purpose of the existence of such a vehicle in the first place.

The only thing I would like to see is if they made the coupe RWD, and maybe small changes to the exterior. Other then that, keep it the same :)!!! It honestly should have been RWD to begin with :(...

lol I feel like i'm the only one who actually loves my coupe!

would I buy another one? NO! I bought my Altima coupe because it was one of the last 09 models available, so I got it for cheap.

Atm I'd buy a 370Z, because recently Nissan decreased the price to $35.5K for a brand new 370Z (the old price was $49K) to compete with the 86/BRZ. The coupe (3.5 FULL options) used to cost about $33K brand new in 2009/2010.

Some of the things I hate about the coupe: Build quality (int & ext), front end, FWD, CVT, back seats.

I'm ok with killing the coupe as long as they produce a new S Chassis kind of car!

Seems like I am also in the minority on this one. I LOVE my coupe! Creeks, squeaks, and all. She's turning 5 years in 2 months time and I am not in the market to replace her.

When recently given the chance to upgrade to the coupe as a rental, I jumped on it! It was late, raining, and the car was the most basic 2013 model and still I felt pretty confident driving it.

Would I buy another AC right now? No, but that's because of my experience with the 2013 rental model. The material used for the interior is different than my '08 and is not appealing to me. Also, there are more choices around now then there were in 2008.

RWD will be reserved for another platform. They use the Altima platform, and that platform will always be FWD as the sedan will always dictate what happens with the coupe.

Many share your sentiment, which means that Nissan's marketing group should pay attention and bring people the car they're truly asking for - a BRZ competitor.

Outside of the people that have bought their coupes because of a "right place, right time" kind of deal, many wanted something sporty, yet affordable. I will agree that the Altima Coupe really did fit the bill for that, but it is "sporty", not "sports". There is a difference.

Many people, like myself, tried to make the Altima Coupe into something which it cannot be, and that is a true sports car. So there are those people who went toward true sports cars if they were able (I know we have a couple members that went to an FRS/BRZ). Luckily, I am a bit of a Nissan fanboy, and I was financially able to step into a Z, but I could only do it as a second car. Otherwise, for a daily, I stepped into something more practical for my needs (I play hockey and I play drums for two bands), and I got a Mazdaspeed3. Fun, practical, and has the power my Altima did (not quite the linear, consistent powerband of a VQ, but that's another thread for another day). The Juke DID NOT work for me (too ... weird, and too small cargo wise compared to the 3).

Your not the only one that loves their coupe lol ;)! All things said, I cant ever see getting rid of it.. And before my coupe I went through a good number of cars because I didn't like them, like every 6months or so cuz I hated them :frown:... I'm going on 4yrs, and Im just starting to really put work into her :)...

Yah, I know :(... Nissan really isn't making great decisions on their cars these days, I have been pretty vocal at times about it lol ;).. The coupe isnt a sports car, but it has a lot of potential to be a semi-performance car(6spd). At this point, I have every intention of keeping it and continuing to toy with it to make it better as i love a challenge lol ;). I also think it's still one of the best looking cars out there, a lot of my friends love how she looks, especially the girls lol ;)! I have too much into her at this point to think otherwise lol :(...

I have to agree with Xenon. This is big part of the reason I decided to get out of mine. You do this and you do that, and its still not up to par with a lot of other vehicles. Then this breaks, and then that breaks and you dig into a money pit of subpar performance. Its a vicious cycle, so I ended it.

Sorry, gonna be in the market for a 4dr sports car by then. Altima is something to mildly satisfy the wants and feels/looks of a sports car. In which case it is not.
