Yes and no, and I beg to differ. But thats a conversation not intended for public boards. I have discussed my purchase of the AC in the past, but with the new NSFW rules I cannot again. Search "Gathering of the Vibes" and author "DJ_B_Easy" and you will get your answer.XenonSE-R wrote:You guys are here because at one point in time you owned an Altima Coupe. It was likely attractive to you at that time because it was a practical coupe choice for a daily driver. It was priced properly. The car is good at what it does.
The restriction with WOT, etc. is across the board with current Nissan products. This is coming from a current 370Z owner. I agree, it sucks, but at least with the Z there is aftermarket support available that gives you the option of nixing a lot of these, most recently, the non-linear throttle issue (WOT restriction). The Altima never got this kind of support sadly. Those with deeper pockets that didn't feel bad about spending the cash went after some things as one-offs. We've had people with turbo kits, transmission swaps, and ECU tunes - none of which were really advertised or widely available. In the case of turbo kits, the horror stories are why there aren't any current members that have turbo kits that weren't custom.mikethemike wrote:The coupe is going to die. I can only speak out of owning a 2.5 though. I wish they didn't restrict the crap out of this thing like the restriction of WOT, governor, rev limiter, and yes had they made a RWD that wouldve been practical.
I have noticed a trend where the Coupe couldn't generate a market of people who would really stand by it - it was always a great car, but mostly I've seen it serve as a bridge to another car. Some people went for a true sports carI would not get another Coupe. I got this one at a great deal and I did not want to pass it up. However, once I hit a certain point where I want to sell it, I would like to get a G35. I've never been much into luxury cars and the G35 just about does it for me. Or perhaps an American car this time like the Camaro or a new Stang.
i stil relive my accident even when im not in a altima coupe... imagine how it would be if i was in another ac.DJ_B_Easy wrote:LOL at PTSD and Nissan + supercharge
Im ok driving, jsut when i make left turns sometimes and when i see other AC's i get nervous and sometimes seize upDJ_B_Easy wrote:I hear you man, my brother was like that for a while after he was hit by a driver DUI. You will get over it.
That would be more expensive than a Z, and would totally defeat the purpose of the existence of such a vehicle in the first place.Innovazn wrote: BRZ fighter? sure... if they AWD and supercharge the thing
RWD will be reserved for another platform. They use the Altima platform, and that platform will always be FWD as the sedan will always dictate what happens with the coupe.wade001 wrote:The only thing I would like to see is if they made the coupe RWD, and maybe small changes to the exterior. Many share your sentiment, which means that Nissan's marketing group should pay attention and bring people the car they're truly asking for - a BRZ competitor.
Outside of the people that have bought their coupes because of a "right place, right time" kind of deal, many wanted something sporty, yet affordable. I will agree that the Altima Coupe really did fit the bill for that, but it is "sporty", not "sports". There is a difference.
Many people, like myself, tried to make the Altima Coupe into something which it cannot be, and that is a true sports car. So there are those people who went toward true sports cars if they were able (I know we have a couple members that went to an FRS/BRZ). Luckily, I am a bit of a Nissan fanboy, and I was financially able to step into a Z, but I could only do it as a second car. Otherwise, for a daily, I stepped into something more practical for my needs (I play hockey and I play drums for two bands), and I got a Mazdaspeed3. Fun, practical, and has the power my Altima did (not quite the linear, consistent powerband of a VQ, but that's another thread for another day). The Juke DID NOT work for me (too ... weird, and too small cargo wise compared to the 3).
Man, Xenon, I love you. I wish I could frame this and send it to all the A/C owners out there.XenonSE-R wrote: Many people, like myself, tried to make the Altima Coupe into something which it cannot be, and that is a true sports car.

I have to agree with Xenon. This is big part of the reason I decided to get out of mine. You do this and you do that, and its still not up to par with a lot of other vehicles. Then this breaks, and then that breaks and you dig into a money pit of subpar performance. Its a vicious cycle, so I ended it.SanoSuKe wrote:Man, Xenon, I love you.
