Due to this being a business related matter that his employeer would frown upon (assuming you're talking about a hookup), it may be best to catch him on AIM or email.

Oh, he might. I thought you were referring to new speakers but would accept used, in which case I wouldn't put any hookup info on an open forum. Just in case.

If you want an 18" Elemental Designs 19Ov.2 (dual 4ohm), I can "hook you up"

Nothing he has not mentioned before.

Thanks, but an 18 is a bit too big and won't fit in my box.

I don't have a hook up anymore. I don't work at tweeter.

I'd recommend ebay and/or craigslist. Here's something that popped up with a quick google search. That's a pretty good price.

BTW, i'd recommend that you go with a TC Sound driver instead.

Well gang, realize one thing. I'm old. I don't want to push enough SPL to make my heart flutter

Looking for a DVC-4 sub (parallel 2ohm config to handle 400w) that works with a 1.25cf sealed enclosure. Huge xmax is not necessary, but I want it to be able to go low while still being able to handle a 75Hz crossover point.

My current JL 12w6 v1 still does well with low-end bass, but for some reason it is popping somewhat with higher Hz ranges. I think it is time to put the 'ol thing "out to pasture" after 14 years of ownership.

I got laid off when they were closing a bunch of the stores. A bunch of installers got laid off

It's alright, I stopped in the local soundadvice and almost all of the salesmen are in draw(not making money basically).

I am going to recommend the TC Sound TC9. It's not an spl monster, but it will give you exactly what you're looking for.

When graphed it has more output down low then the 12w6, and is flatter up top then the W6.

Also, the TC9 has a higher motor force.

It does handle 800 watts, but that doesn't really matter. The excursion on it is 18mm. Looney can probably verify the Xmech, IIRC it's in the range of 30mm. So you won't be bottoming this driver out .

Oh yeah, and it's cheaper

Haha, I take it that you haven't looked at TC Sound before?

Or do you mean that you ordered a 12w6?

Kickass.

With PMQ and I both advocating TC-sounds and audtitatious buying a TC-9, I have a feeling we might start turning into a pro TC-Sounds subforum. IT seems as if every forum is pro something or anti something else and it's true that there are some brands I do not like, but I do want people to know that there are other brands out there besides TC-Sounds that makes quality products, but isn't mainstream. I encourage shopping around, however, with the sales going on at TC, it makes shopping around even tougher!

OT: Man, do I want either two of the CSS SDX15's, or two 15" TC-2k's. The 2k is a very nice looking driver, but the CSS driver should play a tad cleaner...and these subs will be on display in the living room.

I agree looney.

I'm thinking we'll be pro: TC Sound, Elemental Designs, Creative(adire), etc...

And anti: Bose, OEM

So....whats the verdict? Does it blow away a heavy JL or MTX sub of similar specs??

I've always been of the "you get what you pay for" rule...

Remember though joe: TC Sounds actually makes subs for various OEMs like eclipse(8200 IIRC)

I'm currently installing it. Def looks a bit different than the JL 12w6v1 it is replacing:

Hehe. I little bit of a difference

Just think, that's only their 18mm Xmax driver. The LMS5400 18" has an excursion of 38mm! IIRC it weighs around 70lbs.

*edit* Oh, do you mind if I use that picture over at the AVS forum to show the comparison?
