First thing, start gathering up all of the receipts you have for the car, i dont care if its as small as spark plug boot grease, and I mean everything, if you bought extra hose clamps for your turbo install those will count too. Second see if you can get friendly with a friend who has a shop, or even a storage location they work on their cars at and have them print you up a receipt for about how many hours you spent doing the swap @ 75 or so an hour. Clean the interior, wash the exterior, clean everything and detail it all. When they come out to appraise it this will make a big difference in how much they value the actual car at, then the receipts for the work will help bring up what you get for the damage, it wont be full value, thus why everything counts, they are out to screw you as much as possible, so the more you can show for, the closer you are to getting something fair. Make sure you let them know the car was swapped and you have receipts for all the mods, they'll ask for them, just dont go making up stuff saying that you have a such and such exhaust and then end up having two receipts, or really the stock part on the car, you have to keep it within reason.
After all that crap is done up, they'll get you a figure on how much they're offering it to you for, then you want to ask them how much is buyback on the car, they have a list of salvage value on the cars which is what they'll get from an auction house that will sell it off, typically this is in the $50-300 range, so that gives you an idea if they ask you to make an offer, they may just come right out and tell you, in that case i'd say for you to expect around 175-200 $
Use the money for a non bashed car and swap all of your parts over
