2009 Subaru Impreza WRX

So some of you may know, and some not... It has 40 more HP than the 2008 with stiffer springs, thicker anti roll bars and wider tires on nicer wheels.

Basically they took the 2008 WRX STi and made it the standard WRX, and redesigned the STi.

I looked at the STi, but the fact that it is only available in a hatchback (5 door) made it not an option to me.

It came with a short throw shifter, iPod interface (too bad I hate Apple) a plug in for my Zune, and a lot of other little options that I am forgetting.

The best option is that it is considerably faster than the G35.

Sorry for the crappy pics, it's pouring rain outside.

Yeah, If you don't mind sharing finance stuff with internet randoms I'd be interested in hearing how much it cost you to get from one car to the other...

Either way, good stuff man... The G35 is a nice car, but is kinda "look nice, sound cool and go fast enough that the style doesn't seem misleading and nothing more..." at least imo.

Enjoy

Okay, I am not one to share financial info with random people (even if I kind of know you guys).

I will say, if buying a new car, shop at the end of the month. They are willing to make huge sacrifices to price to hit a quota. By hitting a quota that they were close to, it would be $1k per car sold given back to the dealership from the manufacturer.

They gave me $19k for the G35. That is $400 less than KBB's Suggested retail price, and $2100 over the "Private Party" sale price figuring that my car was in "Excellent Condition", which it was not.

They sold me the Subie for $1k less than factory invoice.

My wife and I also have good credit, so we scored a 4.99% rate.

That's about as in depth as I will get. Hope that helps.

Sounds like its time to set up a lawn chair in the garage, crack open a beer and marvel at your good work

I dont really get the whole only wagon STi thing. The GD's were only sedans and now the GH's are only wagons. Damn it I want the option of both.

Ya it WAS fantastic until Subaru got rid of the un-equal header length and they started sounding like all other Japanese cars.equal length headers supposedly give more horsepower but it doesn't sound unique.I'd take the few less horsepower for the sexiness of the the un-equal length headers.

Congrats and welcome to Subie world!

I bet the WA snow storm had something to do with this.

Good luck with your 09. I have an 08 (sucks badly).

One word of caution though, do break-in the engine properly. If you do some search on nasioc you will know why.

Not quite, but close.

The only thing you're missing out on is the 6-speed trans, which is *much* stronger than the 5-speed in your car.

Do NOT sidestep that clutch or you will blow your transmission to Mars. Never do a hard launch in the car....ever. My trans in my 04 (same transmission, basically) blew with 700 miles on the car. They've since updated the synchros and gears, but it's the case flex that kills those things, and the cases still flex.

Other than that, they're super duper nice cars, especially the 2009. Have fun with it.

Oh, and get a stiffer/bigger rear sway pronto, as they understeer like pigs from the factory. If they still come with RE92's, replace those too.

The new Imprezas *do* look great slammed. Drop that thing to the floor and throw on some Work XD9's.
