So, Democrats are up in arms about the RNC buying 150k in clothes for Palin.....

I agree with you. I guess my meaning was more directed towards the $$ aspect. I do spend good money on my clothes. Ive never tried to wear any clothes from Target or K-mart or whatever to a conference. I still think its a huge step from dropping 5-800 bucks on a tailored suit that fits great and is quality to dropping 3k on a suit that uses the same material, but has a brand associated with it. Im all for paying for quality, but brands alone dont impress me much.

Agreed 100%.

That said, I think the Dems bringing this up is a LOT less of an issue than BO's associations with certain "unsavory" characters.

Yet the GOP is perceived as making a mountain of a molehill. Weird.

I do think the past of each candidate needs to be taken into account. Im not sure that I agree it is the end all test of character, but there are lots of these questions that remain unanswered. I wish both parties were more self-critical. IMO, if these types of questions come up, past acquaintances not stupid clothing per diems or whatever, the candidate owes it to the public to explain the issue and tell us why it shouldnt be an issue to us. I have been associated with some less than admirable people in my past, as Im sure many of you have, but they dont reflect the character and moral judgment I have developed between then and now. As voters, I think we are owed that much when we are choosing between 2 people that will have the level of control over ours lives one of these men will have.

Again, very perceptive. Even the most vehement supporters of the two top candidates must admit there's gotta be something better.
