Very cool start man. Some buddies of mine are in the process of tubbing the front of his 14 as we speak. As a matter of fact, they are also using 1"x1" square stock to reconstruct his radiator support as well. Pretty sure they are going V mount tho. He's running an SR so there is plenty of room.

yea I plan to do probably the same thing, just not looking too far into it yet, since the motor will be in and out of the bay a few times to run clearance checks on some nifty additions I plan to add.

Sweet.

Off to a great start.

In that first picture... Is that an unhappy wife I see? Angry because she can't get to the freezer in the corner?

nice build going on here.

So you like the RBs as well? I am preparing for an RB25det swap into my convertible sometime soon. Where would you recommend picking up a motorset from? You seem to have been around quite a few, lol.

I guess this calls for a shameless plug... http://rawbrokerage.com

But I stay away from selling motors; however, NICO has a good selection of vendors that do sell RB motorsets, great place to start.

well, i'm trying to stay away from having a full cage on this build and concerned with the structural integrity of the chassis with a fully functioning roof. Advise?

I've thought about this a bit myself. I know the extra bracing in pretty evident from Nissan. I know that you plan on big HP numbers, so I would think that what they did wouldn't be enough. Do you mind losing the back seat? I've thought when the kids got too big to fit in back to pull back seat. Put a low crossbar behind seats (double as harness bar). Then cross brace low on the rear strut towers (would also include beefing up the front of strut towers. I have then thought of stitch welding the bottom and possibly putting a cross bar underneath to lock front and rear a bit better. I would think if you still twisted that you need a full on race car..lol. I'm pretty sure top would still work and should solve and twisting problems. The extra weight from bracing might work to your advantage to maintain balance from engine swap. Keeping it closer to 50/50 and make one hell of a drift/drag car.

yea screw the back seats.

I would do exactly that and cage in the rear of the front seats to the rear towers. nothing in front of that. Weight isn't an issue either.

Just don't want to find problems of the roof starting to leak because of the chassis losing it's true shape and such. Wouldn't mind doing the vert though

I just replaced my top last week. I can tell you that everything isn't exact as you may think. Yes I can imagine that if you twisted it all out of place that it might be a problem. You could also run a low bar along the door and through firewall into front towers. If you get that out of shape... give up and buy a tank...lol. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

I would think if done right, it could make an interesting vehicle to campaign. Good on show circuit or tracking. I've seen bar set-up that locks the subframe together as well.. that way almost everything is locked together. With the somewhat rarity of these cars almost everything outside the box would make a statement. Good thoughts, hope you stick with it.
