Smog check fail! I Have my papers dont know what they mean?

OK I took my car for a smog check and it failed. Any one know what I might need. I don't want to take it to mechanic. Thanks for the advice

You exceeded the limit of acceptable gasses in a couple areas... You can try n seafoam your motor and see if that helps and if that doesn't just put the thickest oil you can in it to try and seal up the rings. That's what I did.

Too much Hydrocarbon, and too much carbon. Either you are running rich, or you cat isn't lighting off properly.

Run some fuel injector cleaner, and if you have a SOHC, make sure your air pump is working.

Its a possibility, but I would need to see the actual o2 readings.

With absolutely no info about the car, engine, condition. We cant really help you.

If I were you, I would do all the regular tune up stuff, check your o2s, and try again.

tune up? excessive HC ,check ignition system and timing.
excessive CO ,change air filter.
check air injection system operation ,its probably not pumping the required extra amount of oxygen to your catalitic converter ,cant burn fuel with out oxygen,CO needs extra oxygen to change into C02.
what were NOx readings?
was engine running at normal operating temp?
