Well, I have a 1994 240sx convertible with a 5 spd. conversion (i bought it that way) and i put a new clutch in it. anyways. the clutch didnt work because i did't buy a new flywheel with it (first manual car (didnt know i needed to)). so this week i got a new clutch put in and it still slips. i had also put on a new slave cylinder because it had also gon bad.

any ideas as to why the clutch is still slipping?

Make sure there's enough free play at the clutch pedal.

I agree with rogoman. It has been my experience that the clutch pedal needs a little adjusting during the life of the clutch as well as after replacement. Good luck.

well its been a while (ive been busy) but i talked to the tech and he said none of these are the problem...

i have talked to other people and the general consensus ive gotten is that i need a stronger pressure plate (performance clutch) aparrently there is someone else in my area who has a similar problem. It may also explain why there was an ACT clutch in the car when i bought it. (ACT clutch didnt slip)

before i spend $300+ on a new clutch, do you think this will fix my problem?

just stay away from those cheap *** clutches on ebay, F1 racing, xtd, and other "blowout" sale price clutches and you should be fine.

I have an F1 racing POS and it started slipping after 10k miles...

now im replacing it with something better, more likely an ACT or FIDANZA just to try it out...

You did not mention what engine is in the car. Was the flywheel resurfaced before installation of the clutch? Was the clutch OEM (you insinuated it is not a performance clutch)? How are you driving it--conservatively or aggressively (i.e., is it slipping under normal acceleration or under heavy load)?

No one can guess your problem without at least this much more info.

Regardless, a reputable mechanic should stand by his work. If he suggested the clutch that was put in, and it's slipping...

I did forget to mention that i have the ka24de in my car. It is a new flywheel, and the clutch is not made by Nissan but is OEM quality. The clutch is slippingunder normal acceleration, although I have not driven this car because I have another car to drive and I really do not like driving with a slipping clutch (too many crazy/stupid drivers in my area, I feel much safer if the clutch doesnt slip so I can get out of the way).

i have been told by a few different people that a stage 2 clutch should fix my problem. The old stage 2 that was pulled from my car did not slip but I was told by numerous people that it felt as if it were burnt up. I dont know all that much about clutch problem diagnosis b/c this is my first manual car and i am just starting to learn.

Thanks for the help!

With a KA that isn't turbo'd you shouldn't be having this problem with an OEM clutch. First start with the basics. Did you adjust the clutch properly. Maybe the pedal is in the wrong position so when the pedal is all the way out, the isn't fully engaged. If you need aftermarket I have an ACT HDSS on my stock KA. It works great. Grips amazing, but still has a pretty light feel. Really good street clutch. But don't automatically spend a few hundred dollars. Did your tech give you any ideas? Did he drive the car?

The tech did drive tha car, he cant figure it out. I have told him all the ideas that i have gotten from NICO and other trustworthy people and he has told me that none of them are the problem, he siad its almost as if we are getting the wrong parts somewhere.

a thought i just had: Do s14's use different clutches than an s13? is it possible that whoever did the trans. swap swapped in an s14 motor/trans?

Nope same clutch. All KA24de's are the same.

so, after talking to another 240sx owner and a couple other people, the general consensus is: performance clutch and adjust the pedal. does this sound like it will fix my problem?

I'm actually having the exact same problem except I bought an Exedy OEM replacement. Many reputable members and an Exedy clutch department representative said that the clutch pedal should be adjusted.

They came up with this conclusion because of the same symptoms that you mentioned plus the fact that my friction point is about a centimeter away from the top. Apparently, that's too high. I have yet to adjust the pedal, but I'll let you know if it works.

click this link scroll to almost the bottom

here you go zac adjust the clutch here then bleed it from the valve on the fire will you should be set. If that doesn't work you may have to bleed the slave cylinder since there might be air in it from bleeding it before. let me know!
