Anything but a L6 in a Skyline is a friggin crime. I can do S30s with V8s and such, but not a Skyline.

Its pretty smart actually, he coulda sold his RB25DET swap for lots of money, and put in the V8 for a net increase of $$. It probably makes for a super reliable daily driver too. Don't always need a turbo or an I6 as cool as they are. Yes i've driven a Skyline before, a GTR with a power fc even, theres not that much low end power, it felt like my SOHC KA had more juice till about 3500. Cue turbo noise and tons of power after that :)

I think most people over here are shocked because we don't have the cars over here. If they were readilly available for us I am sure many would have a more open mind. Also too many people are all up on the RB engines and believe they are the only engines that should be in skyline. My thoughts on that are bah they havent always had the RB engine and they never will again. Nice car you got man. Even nicer install.

Cheers, yeah skylines are getting very common over here and its very hard to have one that stands out thats y i did, RB engines are great engines but this is much much cheaper horse power and the VH is basically stock and still beats reasonably modified turbo skylines so i dont really mind, im trying to gather info on supercharging, that will be the next mod :D

that's pretty cool, I think I prefer the sound of the VH45 with nice exhaust over about any I6 though.

they're just so smooth sounding!

Fred, can I have your car?:D

94Sky. Job well done. That was no easy task. I told my friend, who's a nissan mechanic, and the first thing out of his mouth was "why?". I told him, because it's different and hadn't been done.

I think its absolutely the coolest swap evar. Why?

1) Its different2) Its still pure , ie same manufacturer3) Its a HARD swap involving a rare engine into a rare car and the VH45DE is a unique and powerful engine with hard to match high speed smoothness and capability, maybe its no match for RB in 0-60 but its super high speed ability is not matched by many engines at all.

i think its freakin' cool. i think the engine is one of the best V8s out there right now. however, with the SC, i think it will be a BEAST. you just need to get some V8 badges now.

Yep. Sorry. RBs are neat, but not for S chassis cars.

The swap looks well executed, and I commend you for that. But, I have never really been a fan of big V8s. Or automatics (I assume that the 4RO3 is the Q transmission, right?). How much heavier is the VH over the RB? Just wondering.

the VH is an aluminum engine. so its probably around the same if not a little lighter. also, the Z32 transmission fits, but some fabrication to the bell housing is needed. and yes, i agree, the I4 is the only engine for the S chassis.

Didn't know the VH was aluminum. Learn something new every day.

Having seen both engines next to each other, I'd say the VH is nearly the same weight. The saving grace for the RB is that the block is narrow.

i do want to know something. The intake plenum looks like it belongs on a transversely mounted engine. Isn't the VH supposed to be laterally mounted?

if you look very close, like actually look at one in person, the runners on the plenum line up, they're just odd looking on the top. the two inner ones go to the inner cylinders and the ones that stick out the farthest go to the outter cylinders.
