Does it really matter if its a Nissan forum let alone a "Skyline Section"??? 90% of the people that chat on Nico don't even own a Skyline. I started a poll and thread to hear peoples opinions.nzmoman wrote:did you really ask this question on a Nissan Forum?....not even just a Nissan forum, but the Skyline section of the Nissan forum

The Skyline still has some advantages over the Evo.
For one, the Skyline isn't derived from Nissan's bottom-of-the-economy-bin platform.
2nd, the Skyline has it's motor pointing the right way.
3rd because the Skyline has it's motor pointing the right way, it has a LOT more options for improvement later on...say, by various motor swaps.
4th again, because the Skyline has it's motor pointing the right way, it has a superior drivetrain and AWD system.
That's not to mention the fact that the Evo is so spectacularly ugly you risk permanent retinal damage from just glancing at it.
Sorry, I don't care WHAT track times the Evo puts down. It's too boy-racer and when you come down to it's still a bottom-tier Mitsu at it's heart which is a scary prospect indeed.
If Mitsu was REALLY serious about making the Evo insane, they'd quit screwing around with Lancers and build a real car.
all skyline have 6 cylindersUnstroked wrote:
When did the R32 come with a V6???
omg that's even worst comparison. gtr is more like better comparison to a supra mk4Unstroked wrote:Well it seems that I was not very clear in my original post. Evo IX vs. R32 GT-R.
Aaaah, that changes things. I would choose GT-R, simply for the collectability, although performance wise the old Nissan would shake the **** outa the EVO. Hell, they banned the GT-R from the Aussie touring car races because the 6.0V8s were being made to look silly. Thanks for the clarification.Unstroked wrote:

Evo IX vs. R32 GT-R.
Skylines have 6 cylinders, but they aren't V6's they are Inline 6's. Please have some knowledge about cars before you speak of them?BoostsFed wrote:all skyline have 6 cylinders
My bad, you are right. to myself. I've owned 2 Maximas and a Pathfinder (and plenty of other Nissans from Sunny to Patrol) & of course both those cars had a VG30E V6, different heads but same block. The G35 & 350Z I excluded based on age when discussing 10-20yo Skylines.nightkid86 wrote:You have never heard of the v6 in any of nissans trucks, SUVs, 350z, g35, 2008 GTR, g37, m series, or maxima?
the vg30 wasn't the only V6.
No way. Evo IX has the same amount of horsepower and far better suspension and suspension control. If you've never driven/ridden in an Evo you definitely must. That car is capable of handling anything you throw at it and more without a wimper. The myth of "zero countersteer" on an Evo is no myth. The car is amazing. Not to mention the MIVEC variable intake cam timing on the IX's makes the Evo far more responsive than the GTR. The GTR is a good car and was amazing for the time, but few nearly 20 year old cars can keep up with modern cars, the advances are too big.papariccardo wrote:I would choose GT-R, simply for the collectability, although performance wise the old Nissan would shake the **** outa the EVO. oooh Mr. smart A-- is fronting me....blah, inline 6, i know, my car is powered by the rb. read my statement again, which stands true, all skyline have 6 cylinders (i didn't said inline or v).Razi wrote:Skylines have 6 cylinders, but they aren't V6's they are Inline 6's. Looking at the average age of the people who voted R32 I'd say that people who know what they are talking about and don't just worship at the altar of Nissan voted EVO.koukicody wrote:WOW, alot of dumb fanbois in here.
Evo FTW
all the smart people will know why.
You may be right, but I just want to defend my non-fanboyness.I just hate Evos with a passion. I'd rather drive a pink new beetle with those teddy bear wheels. And since I'd take an R32 over a new beetle...well if A > B and B > C then A > C.redtop91 wrote:Looking at the average age of the people who voted R32 I'd say that people who know what they are talking about and don't just worship at the altar of Nissan voted EVO.
