Got it in, it seems to have taken some of the bottom end torque away that I gained from my exhaust but I am learning to live with it. The sound is sumthin else, woohooo. Beancooker has the pics from his install so I didn't bother with mine. Same color car, same spacer, OK....those are really my pics Anyway, it was almost as easy as the exhaust to install, we'll see what comes next.

Here's a question that's not even related, so bear with me. I just read your instructions bean and you make a point of not over torquing it or else it will cause a whistling noise. The whistling noise associated with the Pop Charger...could this be because of over torquing the hose clamps?

No, I think the whistling noise is created as air is sucking through the throttle body, it creates a whistling noise, when you have an inake, it opens the engine up a bit to allow more of the engine's sounds to be heard. I checked over my entire intake for leaks, and nothing... I think it's normal.

You always want to be careful when tightening nuts and bolts to the VQ, aluminum is a soft metal, and you can easily cross thread or strip your screws. get a tourque wrench, should help.

There are two different whistle noises from what I understand. One is from the pop charger. There is another annoying whistle that comes from over-torquing the plenum. You get a small space between the plenum and spacer, and it will cause a whistle. Not to mention, that the air sucked through the plenum gap, is unfiltered. Not that an amount that small will really matter, but none the less.

Plus just as bandaid said, the lower plenum is aluminum, and you can easily strip the bolt holes. That would be pretty bad.

Sorry beancooker, but that small gap between the two halfs of the intake will cause problems. That air that is being sucked in is unmetered. Therefor you are getting more air into the eng. then what the mass air flow meter says is there. And by not having the propper air flow reading, you will not get the propper amount of fuel. Which leads to a lean condition. And as we all know. LEAN air/fuel ratios are BAD.

It would have to be a pretty rediculous gap to alter the A/F ratio to lean.

It takes less then you think. Think in terms of a round hole here. A 1mm air leak in a Mass Air flow car is like having a baseball size hole in your tire.

YES! The kit should come w/ the intallation instructions, to include torg. values. You can pick up a cheap inch lb. torgue wrench from your local auto parts store or Sears. Shouldn't be more then $30.00.

I own a 2003 G35 manual transmission. Custom Injen CAI (ram air and such), skunk2 plenum spacer, custom grounding kit.

So I purchased the display item at the 2005 nopi nationals in Georgia for about $120. I competed in the dyno contest that year and all following years with about 230 in 2005 and about 249.65whp in 2006; down to around 245 in 2007. The intake in 05 was just in short ram config. and I had a cheaper grounding kit installed. The changed for the next year was the Cold air section of the intake and a custom made grounding wire kit with a stinger negative battery terminal and 4 gauge wires. An increase by 8 to 12 whp should be a very good estimate and not some numbers I pulled out of my a$$.

I also experienced a increase in gas milage. If I had to estimate, I would say about 1 mpg, but that could be related to the increase in hp. I feel confident that I am burning more fuel when i get on the gas. :p

The spacer also works as a heat shield(sink, blocker? ). I drive without the engine cover, and I can rememmber not being able to put my hand on the plenum top after a good drive. After the Skunk2 spacer, the top would be cool enough where I could keep my hand on it for a lot longer. the top would get very hot after a few min of stand still. Keeping that intake air as dense as possible should be a big possitive for the powe hungry .

Only drawbacks include1) to be careful when installing. i would hate to think what would happen if one of the (i think 6) grommet like thinks were not in line and fell into the intake manifold. Also 2) Be careful when securing the bolts. I got a check engine light and it went away when i tightened the top bolts. Maybe only a max of half a turn for some of the bolts.3) You cannot install most front strut bars with this thing. It raises the top too high.

Otherwise, this product is awesome. I totally recommend it.
