I guess what I'm trying to say is...aren't there any fabricators out there who would be willing to at least gauge the interest for a real (made of metal, thick, fits well) skid plate.

Since a lot of us are lowering our cars, it seems like something more than a flimsy piece of crap (whatever the OE cover is made from, mine is disintegrating) between my oil pan and random bits of debris on the road.

As for changing the oil, that's what air tools are for! You could zip that skid plate off the car in a minute.

if you have time and some skillz you should figure out the best way to channel air with some vents....as well as your oil filter area

Yep, im drilling out a hole for the oil and going to think of a way to create some sort of vent for it.btw, a .22 rifle from about 100 ft, has a hard time pericing most roadway signs. Not like a .22 should even be considered a real gun but, it is strong stuff.

So I started to drill out a hole for the oil when my father and I realized that when changing the oil, its going to be way messy, and even more messy when I go to change the filer and that the top of the sign would most likely have oil on it, so we decided to just remove it each time I want to change the oil. We simply drilled out the old nuts on it, and put bolts going the opposite way, to make it much easier to take on and off.

I'm pretty pleased with how it came out, anyone have any questions?

Ummmmmm he was able to make this......You need to make the oil drain hole the same size as a funnel. And then have slot cut so you cn put a wrench to the drain plug. Drain plug fall s in funnel and oil drains past it. When oil is done then you can put it back on.

Not bad. I have a no dumping sign that I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of, perhaps I'll make better use of it now.

I'd want one of these as well... what's the name of the place that does the custom orders?

i agree. i think that would be the advantage to using the road sign. some sweet under engine graffix. lol. ive nicked my oil pan on jacked up reflectors on the interstate so im definitely doing this. anyone know if speed limit signs are wide enough?

wow... did I just log on to kleptos.org? seriously... stealing roadsigns is for d!ck. you are not cool because you stole a road sign. Go down to your local metal dealer and buy a piece of aluminum that a) will be legit and b) will offer substantially more protection. A road sign will not protect your oil pan from anything more than a .22 fired at 100yrds. And lol at a .22 at 100yrds! I could practically reach out and catch a .22 at 100yrds! of course it wont penetrate a road sign!

im not sure where anyone is getting the idea that street signs are flimsy or weak? around here they thick a** aluminium. like f' summa this shoot it from 100 yards with a 22, ive seen the local rednecks shoot signs with 12g shot guns from like 20 feet and not pierce them. its a good solid piece of sheet metal, and far thicker than the stuff lowes or home depot sells. and im pretty sure these are stronger than the powered by maxx skid plates (nothing against them, i love PBM)

Why not just buy sheet metal? Check out the Fabricators Market someone on there has already made skidplates for pretty cheap.

its hard to see since my work light went out as i was mounting it up. works great. keeps dirt and rain water to a minimum as far as stuff splashing up in the bay. and its superthuggyfresh when people see the bright a$$ speed limit 30 sign down there. lol

i think a handicap parking sign is too small. just wait for someone to plow down a speed limit sign with their truck and swoop that s*** up. lol. or they're almost always held on with 13mm or 1/2 bolts. out in the county where there are more people using raccoons as transportation than cars, they're not gonna miss one speed limit sign that they disregard anyways.
