My brother owns a subaru 2.5 rs, the gc8 body style. If he were to put the 2.0 liter turbo engine that came in the gc8 in japan, it wouldnt suddenly become a wrx like its japanese conterpart. My friend has a silvia badge on his s14, but he still calls it a 240.
I dont think left or right hand drive makes a diffrence, Ive seen pictures of Skyline GTRs somewhere out in the Middle East (maybe saudi) that are left hand drive, I dont think that makes them NOT a Skyline (It would still own you, right or left).
In the case of models that both markets have like a rx-7 turbo II they came in left hand and right so what would you say then other then diffrent color turn signals or something, still the same car. . . . . . . .
IMO if it has the same working mechanicals, bodywork, suspension, brakes then you can qualify it as the same model and badge it the same otherwise, you have to fall on that "is my car and I can do what I want to it" defense
