but in effect it is the same car. the ca18det and sr20 both bolt in. it is the same chassi used for both cars. the 240sx is simply a silvia with a differnt engine and badges. thats what i think. so the car is a silvia to begin with. just a thought.:alcoholic

it has everything that the silvia had so why cant it be? dont discriminate man! lol j/k, i see where ur comin from...but with an SR to me it's a silvia, with a KA it's a 240sx...think about it!

The only way to truly convert your car to a Silvia is to RHD it.

No nightshift<------I meant that skylines come from the factory right and left hand drive therefore in a skyline it doesn't matter what hand drive it is because both were made from the factory that way.

I would just put that girl named Sylvia on my hood. Nobody would ***** with my badging then.

Or would they? Maybe if she was hot, they'd try. I'd have to kill them then.

Well I mean they dont just hatch at the factory with engine and all, and Im still looking for the magic wand that makes GTRs and Silvias appear. People like us put these cars together piece by piece and depending on what all options they put in its whatever that trim specifies it as. The steering wheel doesnt make a diffrence cause it does its job on either side of the car. So if have a chassis and you go and change all the stock options ie, motor, lsd, transmission, suspension, brakes, panels, or whatever else is diffrent it becomes that other car. Regardless of what that lil plate might say in the engine bay. The content of the car dictates what trim it qualifies as right?

Does anyone know where I can buy that magic wand?

bottom line: no matter what you do to the car, it was born a 240 and will die one imo. Not to say its not as good as a jdm silvia, it can be better. Whats the big deal anyway? Are you not happy with it being a 240? Be proud, does it make any difference?

Ok guys, this is the deal an S14 is an S14. An S13 is an S13. These two bodies came in a few different forms 180’s, Silvia’s, and the 240sx. Nissan looks at these cars as the S13 and S14. Not as a Silvia or a 240sx because these are just ways for Nissan to make more money off of one assembly buy making one body into a few different cars. There is a “marketing” term for this. My car is a S14 and I feel it is the same car because it was stamped out on the same assembly as the Silvia. Nissan decided to put a different motor in my S14 because off laws in the US at that time. Nissan decided to put a different front bumper on my S14 because of DOT. But Nissan could have decided to keep it in Japan and make it a Silvia that is only a package just like the 240sx is a package! Under all the “dress up” my S14 and some other guy in Japan who drives a 98 S14 Silvia is the same base car………Think about it You are a manufacture and you make one product. A year later you take that same product you have been making for a year and you change a little. Now you have two products to sale to the public but you’re really still making one thing. And that’s how “manufactures” get rich!

I think Im going to rebadge mine a 200sx, anyone got a problem with that? I mean the chassis is identical like techno said in not only japan and usa (where one could argue lhd rhd all day) but in europe as a lhd and also in australia.... Where they where offered in sr20det trim.

Oh and if you are thinking rhd conversion s14 and an sr20det gains you the right to badge it as a silvia what about the other things they had for that trim. Things like the hicas rearend or the 3.6 manual 3.9 auto final drive, or the differential oil cooler or 4 pot front brakes? If one wants to be picky you need it all.

But the bottom line is the chassis is identical and differerent parts of the world got different things.

I personally call mine a stump puller / truck.. I do have a silvia front grill on it, but it was a gift from my girl and I think it looks nice on it. If it said 240sx / 200sx I wouldnt care.

Hmm mabey Ill make come laser cut S14 emblems and rebadge it as that :)

funny guys, but seriously I don't think it's really rice if you have the visual appearnce of the JDM counterpart. As long as you share something besides a common chasis with the JDM version your straight. If you got the headlights, taillgihts, and random interior bits why not? Do what you like and do what sets you apart(as long as it's not vinyl grpahics)

Damnit give me my Mazdaspeed banner back , it goes on my rotary sr20det powered 240sx, with the silvia badge that I stole from the guy who started this whole post.

By the way somewhere on the back of my car there is a 270R badge on my car, but thats okay according to the logic on this post.:rolleyes

I have a "Powered by Honda" sticker on my 240. HA!

Just kidding. I did see a funny picture of a guy who had a custom made sticker that said "WINDSHEILD" on his windsheild. It was sweet. Put whatever you want on your car. Some people might hate it, but it's your car so do what you want. Personally, I like the stock "sleeper" look with subtle changes like lowering, rims, exhaust and paint (solid, no graphics). My money goes under the hood and on the suspension and brakes.

Maybe you should read my post. Don’t get sucked into marketing scams. What you see on the outside doesn’t make it a different car…….
