teddy, isnt yours NOT hooked up or functioning at all?

and Rico, thats exactly what im wanting to do with mine. but once i factor in the oil cooler, the lines, the filter relocation and it's lines, and then the turbo lines ill be running eventually, im concerned about how much oil im supposed to be using. hahaha

2.5-3qts are sitting in the Accusump, though.

It can become pricey when you change the oil pretty much every month and all you run is Motul 300v Chrono...

Thanks

Broadfield's car is 10/10 amazing. Definitely one of the cleanest 240's out there.

I run 4.5q as well. Its not an S13, but hers my lil thread (that had all of 3 replies). I have no thermo switch, I live in TX and don’t think its a problem. I definitely noticed a decent decrease in overall motor temp.

So I'm bringing this back to life. (well at least an attempt) I just got a bigger cooler from the junk yard yesterday and want peoples suggestions, ideas etc.

I picked up a TRANS cooler from a 02' Ford Expedition because it was considerably larger than the one I got AND it's threaded instead of having clamps holding the hoses.

I want to know if the trans cooler will work well as an OIL cooler. I will flush it down with motor oil until its free of ATF. What do you guys think?

Pics.....

Why wouldn't it work? The cooler doesn't care what type of fluid is in it.

Go big or go home right....25 Row -10AN on my LS...... Installed tonight.

Placed vertical with no tilt but it is angled for fitment, thing is pretty large. One line run in the engine bay, the other under my headlamp. With the GTO oil pan an sandwich block was my only choice.

Nice set up! but when you do oil changes, isn't there going to be some old oil in the oil cooler?

Kevin, why did you sandwich and not relocate? That filter looks super low now!

There's old oil in your pan that doesn't come out, its the same thing. Since we are enthusiasts chances are we will be draining good oil when we do oil changes anyway.

Yeah I have changed the oil 4 times since the swap and only have done 600 miles....

That is my only option for an oil cooler. Its an issue with the GTO oil pan. I am going to look into a shorter filter now.

Good call. That filter placement scares me.

Look into what is used on a 5.3 suburban, I believe is is sunk in under the pan, I can pull a number for you in a few days when i go home, i think its we use AC Delco 46 or something close to that I'll double check its way shorter than that one though.
