I'm ready to buy a new car and I love the Rogue styling, gas mileage, interior and Nissan quality. I currently have a Rav4 97 and I need to get something within a year. Should I wait for a 2011 or not? I believe 2011 should be out by summer.

One thing that frustrates me for 2010 is the options I need seem to be in the S360 and SL. Well it goes a little further since I insist on HID lights. I don't even need AWD in Southern California but seems like I am forced to add it on just for HIDs. I know i can get aftermarket HIDs but they are probably worse than stock Halogens. Has anyone seen a side by side comparison? I also want the back up camera and the rack on top, so it seems like I have to choose one.

I have not seen anything as far as differences between the current Rogue and what will be offered for '11 but I am going to assume if any changes are done they will be to a minimum. If I remember correctly it is not due for restyling until 2012.

As far as HIDs go there are photos in this thread zerothread/343711

Roof racks there are a couple options. You can get the factory rails and pay extra for the cross bars or you can go with a company like Yakima who I believe now has a way for you to put on and take off a roof rack (with and without the factory rails) which should also give you more options when buying accessories as Yakima uses the same kind of crossbar connections for all their products (other companies do this as well so be mindful of the different shapes of bars.

As far as the back up camera, just a quick check so don't quote me, I believe this is only available with the 360 package (and possibly the Krom) so if you go with that package you won't get the roof rails and if you go SL you won't get the back up camera. Of course dealer installs are always an option, depends on how much you want to spend initially or aftermarket to spread out the cost.

Sorry for the wall of text but, only you can decide if you should wait or not, hopefully this helps and doesn't make your decision more difficult. There is always a way to get exactly what you want, you just may not get it that way from day 1.

Actually if Nissan stays true to form, the 2011 model should see a significant refresh... not 2012. Typically the 4th model year sees a refresh... 2011 in this case.

The new 2011's should be out in late summer... August or early September. Nissan is very tight lipped about new models, even if it's just a refresh. We won't have any news on them until the last minute... probably in August.

The backup camera is only available on the 360 deg package for the S model. It's also available as an accessory and can added to any Rogue... even after purchase. Your dealer should be able to price it into the cost of the vehicle.

The reason HID's are not part of all Rogue trim levels is cost. High quality OEM HID's, although more common, are still expensive and add considerably to the cost of the vehicle It's all about $$$ and selling cars... and I don't even begin to understand it.

IMHO, aftermarket HID kits do not perform well and I would not even consider them. This is due to the optics of a halogen headlamp/reflector that is not designed for an HID light source... it's just a bad combination.

Good luck on your search and eventual vehicle purchase!

If you wait by summer then it's not only you may see some changes on Rogue but new Nissan Juke as well. Changes that I'm expecting on Rogue should be the same as on sentra/altima. So we might see a new grill or the whole facelift, yellow led lights inside of front headlights and wider license plate trunk space. I'm not even expecting new tail lights. The rest should be the same.

If the 2011 model is indeed updated, it's possible the 2010 models will have additional discounts available for clearance when the 2011's start rolling in.

+1 on RogueMonster remark: If you are not in a rush, wait for the summer to decide. If you like the new Rogue, you will be able to buy it as it will be available. If you don't like the new Rogue, you will be able to get a good price on this year model.

I agree that late summer will be a great time to look for a new Rogue. You'll get the benefit of seeing the 2011 model, comparing to the 2010 and deciding which one is the best bet.

I agree that the Rogue has some odd options packaging, and there's a good chance that they'll mix it up again in 2011 so that you'll be able to get closer to the options package that you want. I'd like to see them get in line with competitors and make the backup camera and HID's standard on the SL model and get rid of the ridiculous requirement of AWD in order to get some common options. I'm also going to predict a new GPS/NAV package to replace the existing "stick on" portable Garmin unit currently offered - it won't be cheap but it's a high demand item for many people so I'm sure they'll have a new offering. These things have become standard or easily accessible in competitors so I think Nissan will be forced to address these in their next refresh; hopefully they do it right and give buyers good value for the various trim levels and packages, which I expect they will.

But, if the 2011's don't do it for you, you can go for a 2010 and take advantage of their clear-out deals and have more negotiating power.

Late summer should be a win-win time for buying a new Rogue.

Like others have said above, you'll get some good deals on the 2010s after the 2011s come out. That said, if the 2011 is a refresh year, and you like what you see, you might want to defer your purchse to a 2012 model since almost every car has issues during the year it's introduced as a new model or as a refresh.

I've made the mistake of buying a first year model and a refresh new and both of them were major headaches. Buy a car that's at least on its second year so that most of the bugs will have been identified and worked out.

I honestly have to say that aside from the CVT rattle that is now fixed, my Rogue has been a problem free vehicle despite the fact it's a first model year.

I got the SL AWD with the HID headlights and Rack with crossbars. I wanted the Backup camera too. The dealer said he could add it on for 900 bucks.

Hope the info helps you make a decision. I decided not to get the cameral
