Hi, I'm considering purchasing a Rogue but will want to install an HID Xenon kit. Here in Canada, Xenon headlights is not an option I think the Rogue with the HID lights will make a big difference. Can someone post their Rogue pics with Xenon HID headlights? Also, pls indicate if the HID lights from these conversion kits are blinding other drivers?

i just got my HID conversion kit. Here are some pictures and how I mounted the ballast.

Before HIDEngineRight BallastLeft BallastAfter HID

BTW, I got the slim ballast and that was why I was able to mount it on those areas. HIDs are awesome and no glare at all with the stock head lamp. One little thing though, when you first turn-on your headlight and immediately followed by starting up your engine, the HID won't light up. You need to reset it by turning it off then turn back on. Not a big deal but I thought I mention it here.

and yes, you just change the bulbs.

I've read around the nicoclub forums about the xentec brand. it's a cheap HID conversion kit with lots of good reviews. $80 shipped from ebay. just do a search for "hid slim conversion kit".

that's the brand I installed on mine. so far, I am still happy with it.

Kots, usually you pay for what you get. Hopefully, this case doesn't apply to you. How long have you had your HID kit? It seems reading from various sources, the cheaper ones usually last only a year or two.

Bacon, would love to see the Black Rogue pics! Can you take some from a short distance away? Just want to see how it looks like head on. This way, we can compare the looks to those expensive Lexus/BMWs.

I only had it for less than a month so far. Most of my recent driving were in the day time so I cannot speak of the reliability yet.

The same Xentec brand is sold on Amazon for $120 + shipping. I am not sure if the guy on ebay sells a knockoff version of Xentec. But users on this forum (Altima) have given good word about this ebay seller.

One of the difference with my kit compare to Venon_Rogue is I do not have an adjustments screw for the aiming level.

Really Kots? I wasn't aware that some HID conversion kits allow adjustments. Must check out what Venom has.

Are those 6000K or 8000K bulbs? Looks quite blueish?

How is the difference at night? Can you see it?

Ordered a kit for my Rogue and a kit for my wife's civic last week, should arrived this week (my kit was in back order).

Thanks to Venom Rogue, on this website, http://shop.3bspecialties.com/main.sc, they gave me a great customer service (3-4 back and forth email exchange in a 4 hours laps time to be sure what to order, price and delay), and the feedback from the honda forum website seems to be great on their products.

I ordered 4300k but they look more 6k then anything... lighting at light is soooo much better. there is no real glare so it doesnt bother other drivers, and looks amazing.

going to wind up picking up a set of fogs and putting in a set of 3k hids in the fogs as well..

Here are some pics of mine, just installed yesterday.

That is really plug and play, really easy to install as soon as you found a spot for the ballast. The only thing to worry is the polarity problem as the lights may not come up at first, but switch the plug and that will work right away after some flickering (thanks for the poster who talked about it before I install them, as, of course, I plugged it the wrong way for both lights at first )They are 5000K as I wanted to stay as close as the factory ones.

On the following pics, the passenger side has the HID light when the driver side is still with the halogen light:

I didn't have a white wall so I projected the light on a blanket, you can see the difference of output:

Passenger side with HID:

Driver side with halogen (camera on manual mode to keep the same setting):

Installation of the ballasts (passenger and then driver):

I use a hole to secure the ballast with bolt, lockwasher, washer, and nut given with the kit, and a tie wrap to secure the rear.

Thanks again at Venom Rogue for telling about this website where I bought these kits.

I just ordered a PnP H11 HID kit from V-LEDs for dad's Rogue (he has an S, so it didn't come with HIDs like mine did from the factory). I'll be able to park them side by side and compare, do an A/B comparison so you guys can compare how a PnP kit will look compared to a Rogue that came with it from the factory (more glare, or not more glare).

Good luck using slim ballasts. Sometimes you get lucky and get a good set. Sometimes you get a bad set. Slim ballasts have tendencies to be more defective due to poor heat soaking abilities.

No need for slim ballasts on the Rogue, you have plenty of place to put regular ones.

Yes, slim ballasts are less reliable than regular ones, but when you have no space like in a Honda Civic, you have to go with them and cross your fingers.

H11 means the bulb type and size that you'll need. Just find the hid kit that you want and select the H11 option in bulb type, from there it should be a completely plug and play install. If your looking for a place to order from, just poke around the forum a bit. There are quite a few threads on hid kits and where to purchase.

The factory harnesses (which is where the factory bulbs attach) will attach into a new harness that will run directly into the ballast units. The ballast units with most kits is a single piece, which includes both, the igniter and the DC->AC converter. The ballast unit then in turn attaches to the new HID bulbs, which install, of course, into the head lamps.

The DC->AC converter portion of the ballast set (which, as I said, is typically 1 piece nowadays but occasionally still comes as 2 separate pieces per side) takes the DC power from the car and converts to super high voltage/low current AC power, which is necessary to drive Xenon bulbs. The igniter unit acts like a capacitor; what it does is that it charges up when the DC->AC converter is first activated, and when sufficient charge is built up, it releases it into the Xenon bulb to fire an arc off that lights the gas up. The amount of power used to keep the Xenon bulbs lit is lower than the power necessary to light them, and the igniter makes up for this.

Hey guys, noob here considering purchasing a 09 Rogue SL FWD. I really want xenon's and would go with aftermarket kit.

Just wondering if anyone has had any long term issues with the aftermarket xenon kits? I wonder about the wiring being overtaxed and the plastic lens of the headlight discoloring from the heat of the HID bulbs.

Anyone experience any problems?

TIA

Ray
