Kots, usually you pay for what you get. Hopefully, this case doesn't apply to you. How long have you had your HID kit? It seems reading from various sources, the cheaper ones usually last only a year or two.kots wrote:I've read around the nicoclub forums about the xentec brand. it's a cheap HID conversion kit with lots of good reviews. $80 shipped from ebay. just do a search for "hid slim conversion kit".
that's the brand I installed on mine. so far, I am still happy with it.

Bacon, would love to see the Black Rogue pics! Can you take some from a short distance away? Just want to see how it looks like head on. This way, we can compare the looks to those expensive Lexus/BMWs.
Are those 6000K or 8000K bulbs? Looks quite blueish?Bacon wrote:and one more head on shot... sorry the quality sucks.. just wanted to get a few on here to show whats been done so far... leds have been ordered, and a small audio system along with a viper 5900 will be installed shortly...
Sure! You driving down, or am I driving up?Leo2005 wrote:and then you can compare my q45 setup
Good luck using slim ballasts. Sometimes you get lucky and get a good set. Sometimes you get a bad set. Slim ballasts have tendencies to be more defective due to poor heat soaking abilities.kots wrote:i just got my HID conversion kit. Here are some pictures and how I mounted the ballast.

BTW, I got the slim ballast and that was why I was able to mount it on those areas. HIDs are awesome and no glare at all with the stock head lamp. One little thing though, when you first turn-on your headlight and immediately followed by starting up your engine, the HID won't light up. You need to reset it by turning it off then turn back on. Not a big deal but I thought I mention it here.
and yes, you just change the bulbs.
The factory harnesses (which is where the factory bulbs attach) will attach into a new harness that will run directly into the ballast units. The ballast units with most kits is a single piece, which includes both, the igniter and the DC->AC converter. The ballast unit then in turn attaches to the new HID bulbs, which install, of course, into the head lamps.SenorPayne7 wrote:hey guys, i also have little knowledge about this stuff. So what are these ballasts? and how are they powered? Sorry im still a noob
