True...but isn't that more of a slide than a drift? It's all about the RWD even with low hp its uncomparable.

Glass IS heavy thats why HPI of japan makes Acrylic replacementsHoods ARE heavy thats why they can be replaced with fiberglass and/or CF.

I think i missed your point.

I think you missed the point of the entire thread...we're talking about free hp or rahter, free wt gain savings to increase performance. How is buying Acrylic or Lexan free???? I know NF pretty well, he knows I was kidding about smashing out his windows. Maybe you should start from the beginning of the thread to catch on.

If you are really intent on running the best possible time I would gut it. Otherwise on a daily driver, it's not really worth it.

WD - Man I have been reading this thread from its inception and i do get the point. I am sorry if you and Exar have some relationship off the board but not knowing that it seemed like you just dropped into the thread late to make a rude comment.

I'm still holdin out for those windows too exar. We should petition Flex-a-Lite, They are doing sport compact windows now.

I think alot of gains would be made. The friction lost in powering the a/c system and power steering(via the belts) would give power gains as much as weight. I recall reading somewhere that power steering is a 1% parasitic loss of total power. So by removing these items, not only will you get rid of weight, you will also give a little bit of power back to the motor.

I say give it hell. I am betting at the minimum .5 seconds better....Oh and isn't it .1 off your ET for every 100 pounds?

I've tried the power stearing one before...that didn't seem to help much but the ac...that was a good one. Besides its harder to get sidewase w/out power steering. (harder to control)

From what i have heard, lack of power steering helps to let drivers feel the road better...Its not as easy to throw the wheel around, so you think a little more consiously and you have a little more control.

I've been running w/o PS since the day of my swap.. with narrow stock tires, SR20, relocated battery & removed bumper support steering at speed is fairly easy.

Any kind of parking is a pain. Counter-steer up to 45 degrees is easy but beyond that its just not fast enough (i'm just not strong enough i guess.) Daily driving is ok, agressive driving is ok(increased steering feedback slightly loss of responsiveness on lowspeed corners) , i would not suggest deep drifts especialy if you are drift noob like me.

Lack of powersteering didn't help me any. I wanted it back right after I had the belt off. It's not worth the little gain you get.
