So i got an offer for 16,000 cash for my 240 i am building. it is a real offer too. should i take it. I emailed the person that i would take 17, ooo as it is. that includes all the new suspension i got coming for it and everything. I am not sure if the offer is for that car as it is. but the guy really wants it.

so should i sell.

i have 13, 000 in the car as it sits right now. so i would be gettign my money back plus 3,000

I should add i would buy a honda S2000

what will you do with the money?

if your gonna buy another 240 and start the build over.then there would be no point.

now if you had new plans for the 240 and want to start over then yeah.. thats logical.

No way, man. Money can't replace hundreds of hours worth of hard work.

I'm very interested to see a $15000+ 240sx. If you did all the work yourself, then you're not really getting 3K back because you must have spent months and months of hard work on it. Good luck with whatever you do, and try to post some pics.

for god sakes do it

itd be the first instance ive heard of where somebody made a profit off a car that they did work on...jump on it

all that time and work, well you get that s2000 and itll be a far better car after far less time and work

if somebody made me an offer where i would make that much a percentage of profit off my car id jump on it without a doubt

people are talking like youre going to own the car till the day you die...we all know this isnt going to be true, and youve got a better chance of being struck by lightning twice in the same day than you do of getting that much for this car again

Damn your 240 is worth that much . Sell it but i don't think the s2000 could be a smart investment right now, i believe you should reinvest the money since its such a big amount your getting.

personally i would keep it. the sentimental value and countless hours of work just isnt worth giving up. does the guy that wants to buy it know a lot about the car? or is it just some rich noob thats wants a 240 with a sr already built for him?

^^ Can't agree more.

If this guy is serious, do it. Chances are you won't ever get an offer anywhere near that in the future when you do decide to sell it.

Reminds me of an offer I got for my 240 about a month or two ago. I would've came out with $1k profit of what I put into my car. I couldn't do it though. If I were to start over and pay retail for all my parts, I wouldn't even be able to have half of my car.

Sell it and buy an RX-8 shell. Then put in SR20DE-T (S14 Black top).

That basically gives you an S16.

Don't do it man! You've put way too much work into this car to just go and downgrade to an s2000 like that!

I'd go with the sentimental value on this one and probably say no. I mean yea 3k is a nice profit but eh, you and your dad worked on it, and myself and nico helped u so much to get it running right lol, it's just so much nicer because you have boost and because the car isn't stock at all. Your s2k would be stock as a rock for awhile I assume. I don't know man. I have driven s2k's and they are very well built and a blast to drive, but I just don't know...

All comes down to what you want, a built car from the ground up or an s2k with mild mods.i voted no cuz i'll be holding on to my car forever lol. no seriously. I'm gonna collect my project cars.

Id say no.

Your only gonna make 3 grand, plus the big thing is you wouldnt have the fun of driving the car that you spent so much time building.

yeah. i think i am really leaning towards the sentimental value.

plus but then other people are like making money on a mode car is rare. I mean if the caar was finished and i drove it fora while then i would but i still regret selling my integra even though it was stock motor and had a ricy body kit.

I'm assuming that you love working on cars. If this is true, all the time you spent on the car is not time wasted if you sell it. Thats why they call it a hobby. If you only did all that work because its cheaper than going to a shop, and you didn't get any real amount of satisfaction from actually building it, then keep it.

i do like working on cars. but i dont know. i am doing the build cause i do like working on car.s and i have another car. so it isnt like i need the money.

but i like the feeling of completion. looking at a car and being able to say i built that. that is why i chose to build a car instead of saving up and buying a built one which i new would be cheaper.

Then you've convinced yourself. If the joy is not in the build, but in your sense of accomplishment, then it would be a waste of time to sell it halfway through.
