The owner is a mutual friend, good guy, guess he really knows his way around a 240. Seems pretty solid. My friends that have seen this car say the body is very straight and it's a very solid car. Plus the KA has a mere 65k on it... I'm no 240 expert but thats pretty damn low am I wrong? I'm really leaning towards this for my daily that I can have a good amount of fun in. What do you guys think? Yes/No?

$3800 is a bit steep for an S13, but I guess it's reasonable for a car with the Silvia front and rebuilt motor...although the paint looks horrible.
Check for rust, and ask for receipts on the motor build.
Look over every detail of the car and check for any odd noises.

Yeah I agree it is pricey, the Sil8 conversion is very desireable so that's understandable. The thing that really caught my attention was that the motor only has 65k on it. I know the driver drifts it but still... That's a hell of a lot better than all the other KA's I see that go through the same abuse but with over 150,000 on the clocks. And as for the paint... yeah it's not the best but I actually like primer and it doesn't bother me too much. I hope the low mileage is actually going to pay off if I decide to pick this up. Otherwise I might as well get another S13 on craigslist that's selling for a grand.

Oh also... Is there anything special about that front bumper!? I showed this to a friend and he said it was some rare JDM front bumper. If you look a bit more carefully at the last photo you'll notice the front bumper only has one hole on the driver side? I found that to be odd and that's why I asked my friend to take a look at it. What's it called? What did it come on? Is it rare?.. I've never seen it before?

Cars that come with silvia fronts from the factory have SR20s, and SR20s use sidemount intercoolers from the factory. The hole is for airflow to the side mount intercooler.

Not really all that rare. Silvias came in a few trims, J's, Q's, K's, A's, and with aero versions of a few of them.

Anyway,

That bumper, no hole = Base non-turbo
that bumper as is = base turbo
Cool looking aggressive factory bumper = Rare K's Aero Bumper

Thanks guys, so it has the K's turbo front bumper? I figured it was for a turbo model... That K's Aero bumper looks damn good I might have to pick that up!

Wouldn't give over $2,000-$2,500 for that car. Yeah it's got some "desirable" body parts, but at the end of the day, you're still getting a 20 year old economy car with a bad paint job and all the creaks, rattles and stuck bolts that come with it. The modifications list doesn't look promising either. Lowering springs on stock struts, fart cannon exhaust, and purple shift knob.... ooooh goody. Any time you want to modify something on that car, you're going to have to reverse engineer whatever the previous owner has already done, and trust me, that's no fun task. I'd avoid that car unless the owner really comes down on the price.

I think another big factor about the price is the motor. 65k on a KA is nothing. Plus, that "fart cannon" exhaust is an N1 replica which I've heard in person and it sounds badass. The only thing I don't like about the exhaust is that it's 3.5" and that's a little big for an N/A KA but if you heard it I don't think you'd mind.

replica, a nice way of saying fake.

The big factor in the price is the drift tax. If its rust free is a little over priced, if its rusty, then........

If you want it, buy it, dont let anyone tell you its overpriced. In the end the car is worth exactly what you are willing to pay for it.

Eh I would try and find another one IMO. First the price is rough, even 3k is top dollar. Theres nothing special about it except it has a low mileage motor, thats been beat on by drifting... Who knows about the tires/brakes, interior, engine problems, rust, quality of engine swap, and the guarantee that the motor is really what it is. And the 'drift button' ..? Is that like a turbo button?

Honestly I would avoid it unless you can get a really good deal on it.

Yeah I agree, some replica stuff is s*** but I know that it sounds good since I've heard it. There is no rust and the body is straight, and the brakes have been changed all around. And as for the interior I had him send me a picture because that worried me too since 9/10 240s I've seen for sale have stripped or s*** interior. Here's the interior:

Alright guys, found out that Sil40 has a bent frame. Doesn't effect driving but you still have to keep that in mind ya know? So I've been looking more and found this-

What do you guys think?

All I'm worried about is the high mileage.

NO, NO, NO! When are these ignorant S13 drivers going to figure out that their high millage, out-dated, 20 year old eco-boxes aren't worth jack s*** anymore? I have a 95 S14 with almost no rust that I have over 10 grand into, and even I know I couldn't get $3700 for it in the current market. Aftermarket parts DO NOT add to the value of the car, and in my opinion they detract from the value because they bring up the question of the quality of the work done to the car by the previous owner. Which is a HUGE unknown, especially among S-chassis drivers.

On the car you're looking at there, judging by the lack of grammar in the post, the crappy wiring around the HKS ignition box, and the less than classy nature of any of the modifications, I wouldn't give more than $1500 for that car.

Yeah the price is steep. I was going to see if I can work with him on that... other than that the car looks good inside/out from what *what I can see. I want to at least go take a look at it. Looks a lot better than the rest of the 240's I'm finding on Craigslist :/
