It eepnds on your foot.Light foot: 17mpg in town to 23 mpg hiway.Lead foot: 14 mpg in town to 19 mpg on hiway.Actually those numbers compare well to many newer V8 luxo sports.

For a daily..... Very good car.... Check http://www.autotrader.com and goto USED CAR, MODEL INFO.... It gives all specs on the car, including gas mileage.......

I wouldnt want it, because its FWD..... Plus, the Q has 25% more cylinders.... :D

I think if I never made it past 3500 rpm (which is COMPLETELY out of the question) i could muster 15-16 mpg, with my bad knock sensors, dirty plenum........

The I's get much better milage as they are lighter and V6's.

Actually the Q milage is very good cosnidering it a heavy V8 sedan. Also the 22.5 gallon fuel tank makes for good driving range.

Hmmm... Well mileage is probably the main concern with my wife which I think is rediculious... Mine like I said are mainly saftey and reliability... Back seat space is also important...

I can only find a new car section, not used cars, unless I want to search the ones that are for sale..

If milage is important to her, but substance in a car and a modicum of safety to you , then the I30 indeed sounds like a good compromise.

Well equipped beautiful cars that are great values on used car market.

I love my 99 I30T just wish it had a little torque on the low end. The 94 J30T I owned was an extremely reliable car and somewhat quicker. I took it to nearly 100K and never used the extended warranty. I would suggest either an I or a J for inexpensive reliability as you can get one just a few years old. Use Carfax for sure.

I'm really hoping to get her an I at a good price and maybe get a cheap J for me to drive around until I can afford to buy a new truck...

Another good source for information on almost ALL cars isautos.msn.com it will let you do a side by side comparison of specs.

I read somewhere, sometime on this site that the J30 was one of the safest, if not the safest, cars ever built in terms of fatalities per crash industry wide.

Mileage is a tad heavy for a car of this size but then again it weighs ~3800 lbs. Never had less than 19 mpg on a tank and I am WOT freindly.

Back seat verycomfortable but not huge.

RWD is great if you like handling but more challenging in snow.

Engine is bullet proof.

Superior brakes

Exquiste luxury.

Transmission can be a problem but all the guys that have performed proper maintenance have had few if any incidents. Mayhem might have the only new transmission in the group but I could be wrong.

Paint is awesome.

Really fun to drive and supremely comfortable.

Good value which is a plus because parts are more expensive than many. Suspension going to cost me $800. (Can't wait!)

Best car I have ever owned.

There might be more practical cars for your purposes but you would enjoy owning a good J30t.

A truck after the J? Get a crap truck for practical. BTW, J's may be values, but they're not cheap. It is a luxury car and you have to spend a little more dough to keep her purring.

I have a need for a truck... Not just a want... I have an off road rig that I need to be able to tow to the trail... But until I can afford a diesel truck (much better fuel economy) I don't want to be driving my Explorer (soon to be trail truck) if I don't have to. I want something more comfy, more reliable and with better gas mileage...

I wasn't calling the J cheap in regards to build quality or value, I was calling it cheap in regards to purchase price...

I know you weren't refering to the quality. However, I don't think the J would respond well to "beater" conditons. Possible, but I can't imagine it. Go drive a good one and check it out.

Sounds like the perfect plan. The I has more rear seat room than both, and you can get the pass-thru in the trunk. The 2000 has a complete folding rear seat (60/40). Non-existant in the J or Q. Youshould be able to pick up a 2000 I30, around the $15,000.00 range.

I know currently im trying to convince my girlfriend to purchase an "I". I currently own a J, and let me tell you, it is awesome. You can really feel the relation this car has to it's relative the Nissan 300ZX, it's fast, sporty, and sexy all in one package. I love that car.

The "I" on the other hand has "comfortable family" written all over it. Im not going to lie, the backseat of my J is lacking compared with most other sedans. The I would be ideal for someone who needs backseat room, but doesn't want to give up Infiniti quality.

Hmmmm... Sounds like my idea is the perfect plan...

By the way, I don't see a forum for the J's and just figure out about 10 min before you posted that they're related to the Z's... Do the J owners just post J info in the Z forum??? I have some questions about the AWS on the early J's and what not...

Do a search here on HICAS. This forum concentrates on J30 and Q45, with a little I30/35 thrown in. Maxima.org covers a lot more mechanical gound on the I since they are essentially identical except for trim.

J30 and Z32 are similar, but not identical mechanically. twinturbo.net is a source for inspiration and even sobriety for J30 owners who contemplate modifications.

Most G20 (P10 & P11) go to g20.net for their information.
