I've never actually thought to pull my head down to the gun like that. Wonder if it actually works...

I love my S&W .40. My next purchase of a handgun is going to be either a Sig 226 or an XD40.

I'm just glad I wasn't on the line that day.
I would say it's a dirty race gun that doubled, but that many times? Right... :ohno:

Such an expensive hobby...I need to learn how to cast my own bullets and reload.
And yeah...pistol grips on shotguns make the time firing it so much nicer.

why would you pull your head down, that throws off bod alignment. the gun is an extension of your arms, the round an extension of that. if you start getting all crooked guess what's gonna happen... you won't curve bullets, just miss. There's quite a few effective stances, look em up and find what works for you. I'm pretty partial to teh weaver stance since it's how i was trained for a long time.

Was that standing or off a bench? At 25 meters not a bad set of grouping. Since you just said "M4" I'm guessing it wasn't yours or you don't know the model/build specs on it?

Stace,

Good job on hitting the range.. it is highly addictive and can get very expensive fast (mostly because the cost of ammo has gone through the roof in recent years). As a couple of others mentioned do some googling/youtube searches for proper stance/grip for a pistol. Just standing correctly so you are more balanced (you want to create as much of a solid platform as possible to shoot from) will make a big difference. Next time you go (because I know you will! Right!?!?) try making a concious effort to shoot "groups" vs. whats on the target. So maybe you pick the upper left shoulder for one magazine. Take your time and put your shots on target in as tight of a group as possible. The tighter the group is the more consistently you are shooting and once you get more consistent you can concentrate on actually putting the rounds exactly where you want them.

9mm is a good consistent round for a target shooter... I shoot .40 and .45 but mostly .40 because .45 stuff is stupidly priced these days. For punching paper though a .22 will do just as well. Its not about the size of the round when you are punching paper its about the accuracy. Build up the accuracy and move up calibers from there. FYI you can get a good accurate .22 handgun for well under $500 and the ammo is dirty cheap.. dirty. However it doesn't quite feel as good as putting some bigger rounds down range! :dblthumb:

i know that weapon all too well, my friend. M4 is the military version of the AR15 Carbine, it's a 5.56 mm Nato ammunition with a 4 position collapseable buttstock. lightweight, air cooled, gas operated, magazine fed, shoulder fired weapon fires from the close bolt position. Weighs 7.5 pounds with sling and 30 round magazine. Max range is 3600 meters, max effective range for point target is 500 meters, area is 600 meters. Rates of fire is sustained 12-15 well placed rounds per minute, rapid 45 rpm, burst 90 rpm, and cyclic 700-970 rpm (theoretically if given a long enough magazine and the barrel hasn't melted while on full auto. M4 fires in semi-automatic single shot or automatic 3 round bursts. Chamber pressure of 52,000 psi, barrel has 6 lands and grooves for rifling in a 1/7 right hand twist (one full revolution of rifling ever 7 inches).

That was 44/50 on target. I fired 10 in 5 different positions. prone supported, prone unsupported, kneeling, Over barricade and standing.

Thats why I was wondering... a lot of people just say "oh my buddy has an M4" which always makes me chuckle. Or "my buddy has an M16". Mmmmm ok!? Hahaha... I've put a few down range with M4's but mostly stuck with civic grade AR variants.

So this was your "work gun".. nice shootin' tex. :bigthumb:

Nice post, PMQ...er Koshin. :slap: As a NICOnaut, you must acknowledge that many of us know Stacey and consider her a friend. A friend who just shared a fun new experience she had. Her being female is pretty much irrelevant to the thread. But if you want to make it an issue, it's actually pretty cool that a woman would be interested in what is traditionally a male dominated hobby. To sum it up, you fail.

Oh, Im doing it tonight at the gym. Its a heated class.

Im just not sure how the fellow participants feel about me taking pics during the class. Even though the pics could potentially be epic depending on the positioning.

And there are about half a dozen hot females that are always there....here lies the dilemha

lol....

I'll give her praise for not dropping it and running off crying the first time :)

anyway...the key to accurate target shooting is trigger control followed VERY closely by gripping.

Nope, Not butthurt, but your interest in my butt is flattering. Thanks. :chuckle:

IMO, you and your "drift" might have drifted off base a bit. Many guys have created similar threads here about gun experiences, and they have gotten positive responses. Why? Because there are many here that enjoy guns. Why should it make a difference that this one was created by a woman?

As far as pics of you doing yoga. I'm sure you'd get plenty of comments, but I doubt much of it would be praise. Why? Because there are NOT many openly gay guys or yoga enthusiasts here.
