Shifter Assembly

Hey. I just started to acquire parts so i could do a 5 speed swap in my 240. Im confused on what parts i need for the shifter assembly.

In the tutorial of how to do the swap it says, "Shifter assembly (plate, lower rubber boot, upper leather boot, finisher plate)." So do i need these 4 items.

Especially if you want to keep out all the godawfull smells that come from down there

Would i need anything else coming into the interior, other then the shifter and knob?

i dont think i have that rubber boot cover, but i have everything else. the rubber shifter boot should come on whatever shifter you buy. If not, this is how it should look:

the rubber shifter boot seems as if its a shifter cover, and in ur picture it looks like thats the rubber boot cover. Your picture is a pic of the shifter?

yes thats completely different. his picture is of the part on the inside of the car. Mine is in the transmission tunnel underneath the first two items you have listed. heres another picture that may help

No, thats just the the cover for the whole assembly.

So if i bought a transmission from a junkyard or whatever, it should come with the items i posted? and i would prob just need the knob and shifter cover?

Not likely, but even if they did, im sure they would probably be in bad shape. Hopefully you get lucky though

lol...im tryin to not spend a ton on this 5 speed swap, but i guess ill end up doing so. hopefully i luck out lol

my transmission didnt even come with a shifter. it came with a rag stuffed in the hole held in with duct tape. buy all of the boots. spend some more time reviewing the 5 speed swap threads.

are there any threads other then the s13 vert and s14 one that get as in depth with the 5spd swap? I bought the Project Car Mag where they do the 5spd swap in the 240 but they dont really get into detail in this area. thanks
