Well the rb25 swap/auto->manual swap is nearing completion and I don't have a shift knob because my car was born an automatic. I was looking into shift knob choices and wondering what you guys prefer. I like the feel of a heavy shift knob. One question-most of these knobs are "Fit most Nissans", will that work on an Rb25 shifter?A) $38-Greddy Counterweight knob is 13.5 ounces. I think thats like .85 lbs. B) $65-Sparco Globe-X, looks like it has a nice feel to it. C) $65-Nismo black aluminum, i've never driven a car with a shift knob that looks like that, i can't tell if it would be comfy. D) $65-Nismo GT, looks grippy, never held one either

A is first choice.

B is nice if you get black.

i love having round shift knobs...friend had C) on his skyline...hated it...piece of crap IMO.

be carefull if you live where it's hot. i have a RAZO on my corolla and in the summer it's terrible to touch durring the day...my plastic GREDDY in my s13 is nice though.

I've got the weighted greddy knob you're looking at. It's a good shift knob. Fits well in the center of your palm without making it hurt, and has incredible weight for something so small. I'd say get it, but that's up to you. The other knob that you might want to consider is the Nismo GT shift knob the one that's black made of urethane and is also weighted.

how heavy is the nismo gt or the greddy?

the skunk2 knob also have the 10X1.25 thread pitch for nissans and it weighs at 440 gram, which is 10gram short of 1lb

lol I have a T shift knob. I want to get a Momo Airleather one though, those seem like they are really nice... I would get a shift knob that is heavy, seems like it would make the shifts easier....

i have c) the nismo aluminum one, but its not black. it gets really hot during the day, espcially in the summer, i hafta use a bandana to cover it most of the time, and it looks pretty cheap. By the way i recently bought a knob in japan and it doesnt fit so i was wondering if there are any attachment pieces that could make it fit?

i have the nismo leather knob. it's a good piece and doesn't feel uncomfortable in my hand. I try to avoid anything made of aluminum because they enjoy overreacting to temperature changes in the cabin.

I have one of the little Nismo dildo-knobs. I love it. I don't understand the need for a gigantic amount of weight at the top and am unsure what benefits it would provide. Its just a lever afterall.

all nissan are 10X1.25 thread pitch, from my understanding, correct me if I am wrong

as long as the greddy one is 10X1.25 thread pitch then it'll fit

the newer nissans may be different, but that's moot in this convo.

as far as extra weight at the top of the shifter. I don't see how extra weight == faster shift times. Maybe with momentum added in, but I actually feel that my old shifter knob was a hinderance in my shifting compared to my nismo one.

in the end, it's all a personal choice

Faster shift time....I shift fine with the stock one.Actually better now that it's backwards. Only thing about weight is the feel of the driver. I don't want to hold a piece of paper when i'm shifting I want the knob.Like tenkawa_akito said it's personal choice.

B&M knob works for me. Ball or Cylinder. I get used to whatever I'm given.

I think spending a ton on ahift knob is dumb (esp when people list them in "Mod" lists)

If I were to get a knob, it would be a white Nismo dildo knob (cuz I have a Nismo fetish)

only the original Trust shift knob worx like i like it.

The angular knob with the "GREX power systems" logo in it is awesome. But you have to cover it up in the sun cause the crome gets so damn HOT...

i had the cheap $12 duracon plastic round trust GREX knob. ok, i guess.

but then a few days ago i switched to the nismo GT. excellent knob, and at a price that was EXCELLENT ($46 at performance nissan)

the weighted knob gets rid of some of the "unsmoothness" on my 2nd-3rd gear shift. i've also been grinding a lot less =O

it also feels good when it's hot out. gets slightly warm, but ya gotta watch out for the top hex screw, which is metal and gets really hot.

too bad the lady friend doesn't like it as much as the flashy, white, blue/red/silver round knob.

*shrugs*

if you look at it a lil logically, you have heavy on top lighter at bottom, in first gear its pointed twords the console right, well the bottow is actually pointed twords the rear of the car. when you shift your throwing the knob (HAHA i said knob) twords the rear of the car, once it hits the middle (where its pointing straight up n down) the knob will act sort of as a weight, and help throw it the rest of the way. And if you like me and have godly like fast shifting, and you have a light shift knob (there it is again, knob) you feel like your going to break the shifter.... whereas if you have a heavier one you dont have that running through your head. All my own opinion, and like others have said its all personal opinion.

yeah, i have the nismo one in that style but carbon fiber

looks cool, fits my shift style well (i shift from the side not top, like a joystick)

it SUCKS tho...B&M shifters are very stiff and require a great amount of strong arm to put in gear w/ a light weight shift knob like that...i want to find a very heavy one next time i get a new knob...i think the ARC one is supposedly VERY heavy

I have a round OBX knob. Nice and heavy, and does the job for 1/4 of the greddy price.
