SHIFT KNOB and o2 sensor--help

hey guys and gals.

well i have been wondering how the hell do you change the shift knob on a s13 hatch year 1990. I twist like theres no tomorrow and that thing doesnt come off . is there a nut somewhere under teh panel?

also, whats teh easiest way to change your exhaust manifold sensor. im having trouble.

For the shift knob, put a rag or towel over it and crab a pair of channel locks to grip and twist it off.

As for the o2 sensor, i just used an open end wrench on mine. Some people might say not to. You can use a special o2 sensor socket also.

cool. as far as putting the new one on, you guys say not to over tighten it. so hand tight should be good?

I tightened it with a wrench but not much.

thanks guys i got the o2 sensor on. i hand tightened it on. i didnt wanna strip it with tool.

----i just did a 97 de swap into my 90 hatch and the check engine light was on and still is after i changed the sensor. THE old one was broken at the tip. What are my next moves?

havent drivin it with teh new o2 sensor ye but i did let teh car sit on for about a couple of minutes yet teh light stayed on.

whats next?

OHHH and my F*kin hand is soar like a inmates butt right now! i seriously tried to get the shift knob off but FAILed. i used wd40 and still no luck.

Did you use channel locks over a rag to twist it off?

And you might have to drive it for the light to go off. Or go get it cleared and see if it comes back or not.

to gt it cleared do i have to take it to dealrship?
